Your Old Habits Can Drag You Down

When something is new it's exciting and we can't wait to get into it. Take the resolutions made at the beginning of each year. How exciting are they? But how long do they last?
I remember sitting through an episode of the Simpsons and Homer was told he had a terminal illness. During those moments that he thought were his last he made promises of how his life would change if he was saved. Turned out the hospital got it wrong and he wasn't dying. Within 24 hours despite all the promises he was back to sitting in front of the TV in his pants with a bag of chips for company!
Despite all our promises and good intentions our old habits will drag us back every single time if we allow them, especially during times of stress or unexpected crisis. It's very easy to go back into the familiar and want to stay there.
If you know that you usually sit and watch a certain television program on a Wednesday night at 8pm and you have made the commitment to give up watching it and to turn your PC on to work on your vision or to be on this network then you really need to be careful about avoiding slipping back into your 8pm TV habit.
If you are working hard and something just won't work right or you are struggling to understand something and getting frustrated the temptation will be to just turn off your PC and go and watch TV.
The best things you can do at those moments is to get yourself on here and share something either in the forum area or in your group. Read some of the motivational messages. Remind yourself what you want for your future and what it is going to take to get it.
It can also help to find a family member or a friend and share your vision with them of what you want to achieve by being in here and ask them to be there to kick your butt if you are not keeping your commitment and also to support you if you are struggling. Of course you must trust that person and not allow them to bring you down. It should be someone you can rely on to be positive.
Slipping back into old habits is a killer and something you will need to constant be aware of and be able to pull yourself out of in the event of no one else being there. Once you can pull yourself out of it (by connecting to your vision of what you want) then it becomes easier to stay focused on achieving your goal.
There will be some days when it just doesn't happen. Despite your best efforts you just don't manage to do anything related to your blog or Blog Success for a week or more. The thing you definitely MUST NOT do is beat yourself up and think you are hopeless. Instead just get yourself back in here and re-commit to your vision and what you want.
I have said it before and I will say it again. If creating a new mindset and new habits that will help you become champion bloggers was easy everyone would be doing it. It takes commitment and a willingness to succeed to make this happen.
The great thing is though that eventually it all becomes a natural routine for you. The day will come when you couldn't imagine NOT logging on and adding a blog post. When adding posts will be something you can't wait to do and when you always automatically have three different blog posts in your head that you want to share with your audience.
You will become excited and passionate about blogging, writing, sharing what you know and getting to know your audience. It will become as valuable a part of your life as breathing!
