Analyzing and finding the best keywords, tweaking a PPC campaign based on the findings, this is just not the way you want to spend your days now is it? Didn't think so. This method can be successful, but it is not the best way. Read on to find out a better way to pick your keywords.

Remember that most PPC services only show one affiliate ad per search so the top keywords are not always the best keywords. The best part of PPC, though, is that you only pay out when someone actually clicks on your link. It is not the same as buying a banner ad for a month, there is no time limit for your ad so you can afford to be patient and wait for the click, all the while tweaking your campaign. Therefore, common keywords that people search for are probably not going to be your most profitable keywords.

This is because you will have much more competition for those common keywords. You will find this to be true in pretty much any popular niche. How are you supposed to compete against large companies with their over inflated advertising budgets? You can't, not to mention competing with the large number of other affiliates within the niche. Popular niches are just not the best, yes there are more customers, but there is also a lot more competition.

As you can see it is just not worth wasting your time competing like that. Instead, look for another way in. Make your keyword more specific. For example, instead of targeting the generic term of say weight loss, why not try for weight loss for children. The more targeted the keyword you are promoting, the less expensive the keyword should be. And another bonus is at there will be less competition for the more targeted keyword because they have not thought of it and are still working on the general term.

Think about the product you are promoting you are promoting and try to choose those keywords which are more closely connected with it. If you are promoting your own product, maybe change it up a little to target a more specific niche giving you better keywords to use. If it is not your own product, think hard as to what other markets would be interested in it aside from the obvious one.

The key is to narrow down your niche as much as you can, choosing those keywords which relate as closely as possible to what you are trying to promote. You will, of course, receive fewer clicks, but of those clicks you will find that you will make more sales. That is simply because the market for that smaller niche is more targeted. Those who find you are literally looking to buy exactly what you are selling.
