This mere thought of suffering from breast cancer can be terrifying in itself. It means future surgery, possible death, and loss of one's sexual allure. This terrifying image and dim future prospect of this cancerous form is the reason why many women overlook the possibility of their suffering from cancer. And that is the reason why many women of the age group 20 -- 40 do not go for a possible cure, even though the breast cancer symptoms are present.

But one need not worry. Cancer of the breast is curable, like any other cancer, if detected in time. So you would want to look at the symptoms of breast cancer, which might have been detected during your monthly cancer self-examination in which you carefully examined yourself to identify any of the potential breast cancer symptoms. You should be aware that there are many non-cancerous breast conditions

Non-Cancerous Breast Conditions

There are many changes that can occur to your breasts that are abnormal but non-cancerous. These conditions are very common and can be found in most women. They typically cause a great deal of concern to most woment because you immediately think the worst. Most of these changes are very common and when sampled (biopsied) and examined under the microscope, these symptoms turn out to be benign symptoms. Benign is another word for non-cancerous. Unlike deadly cancers, benign cancer conditions are not life-threatening. They often cause a great deal of worry due to the symptoms that ellude to other cancerous conditions. Certain benign conditions are linked with a higher risk of developing breast cancer in the future.

Breast cancer symptoms

Your doctor may have recommended a mammogram for early symptoms of breast cancer, this is because the symptoms were noticed and there were great concerns that these possible symptoms and changes in the breast could be something more significant. Following some of the guidelines and recommendations produced by the American Cancer Society for early recognition of cancer symptoms, you should be having yearly mammograms. There is strong evidence that supports the effectiveness of mammograms. Mammograms offer a great benefit to women 40 years of age and greater. You must be educated and know that Mammograms are not always reliable but they are one of the best, most advanced, steps you can take to promote the detection of cancer in the earliest stages. Mammograms are known to be very effective and an extremely valuable tool for identifying the earliest symptoms.

Did you suddenly feel a hard yet painless lump in your breast or armpit area? Yearly mammograms are a very good way to identify any potential cancer symptoms that are undetectable during your own self-exam. Whatever forms a lump takes, it needs to be checked up thoroughly and immediately by the doctor. You definitely do not want to disregard the warning signs and potential symptoms. Some additional symptoms include an area of your breast swelling up. You may also have noticed some slight irritation in the skin and a discharge coming out from the nipple. These are all possible and potential cancer symptoms. Other symptoms include pain in the nipple and in the breast area, and the nipple turning inwards.

Go and see a doctor immediately if you find the area around the nipple growing thick and red. Some patients also noticed scaliness of the skin in the nipple area of the breast. Once again, the most important step you can take is going to the doctor immediately and have them perform a full exam. They are now being treated successfully for breast cancer with the help of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Breast cancer, like any other cancer is treatable, if caught in the initial stages. So do not hesitate to go to your doctor when you identify the early symptoms or signs. Early detection is the key to prevent dramatic outcomes.
