Employees, as often mentioned, are the biggest asset of a company. It can easily be deduced that the ones essentially running the company are its employees. All companies, may they be a manufacturing company, IT company or construction company, are concerned in providing a good workplace health practice to their employees.

Combining good health consciousness and a safe workplace can benefit a company more than just healthier employees. More work is accomplished faster by employees that are healthy and are assured of a safe working environment. Workplace health might be affected by some psychological issues inside the workplace. Company sponsored activities such as teambuilding activities, sports festivals between departments, campings, and others are a great way for stress to be lessened or even eliminated. Less stress can be seen when employees are able to interact socially with their co-employees beyond their working environment.

An employee's psychological health is sometimes affected by the amount of emotional and verbal harassment that he or she receives, but these are usually overlooked. Employees may not immediately exhibit any negative effects of these harassments, but they usually keep this inside for a long time. A good workplace health policy should not tolerate any kind of harassment, as these result to employees who are less confident, no interest in working and have low self-esteem.

Lower productivity might be the result of employees that are already burnout, thus this should be considered in the overall workplace health policy. Burnout is usually defined as physical or mental collapse caused by overwork or stress. Situations such as being burnout can be avoided with the help of the companies.

Sacrificing personal needs, hobbies, quality time with family and friends just to be able to prove oneself in the workplace can be the reasons for burnout employees. Withdrawal and depression starts to set in and behavioral changes become obvious to others as time passes. Studies have shown that one of the things a company?s workplace health program can do is to form a social support group among employees.

A policy that enforces zero-tolerance can simply solved having any form of harassment in the workplace. Encouraging employees to be social and have fun in the workplace can help them to be less stressed and to be burnout. Eventually, companies also benefit from proper workplace health policies for their employees as they earn more fortunes since employees are performing better, giving more interest in the workplace and turnover rates are kept at a minimum.
