Thus far, the year of 2010 has seen a diverse range of trends appear and disappear within the sphere of women''s clothing. From the winter wear of January through to the more spring like collections of April followed by the hottest of this year''s summer designs and finally the much awaited release of this year''s new winter collections at the London Fashion Week.

So for the best of what fashion has seen come and go in the last seven or eight months, here''s a quick list of a few of the year''s most interesting trends and styles:

The chunky knit jumper dress was big news in the early winter collections. Some were knee length, shapeless and androgynous, others were short, tight, figure-hugging affairs. Whichever style you went for you could be certain there was only one perfect accompaniment to the chunky knit dress: biker boots.

In spring, the inverse trend came into play. Instead of thick and heavy fabrics, designers began layering up more delicate cashmeres, silks and linens in graceful, draping designs. The layered, draped look was instantly popular with women of all ages, appreciating its timeless elegance and flattering style.

Summertime brought with it two major, defining trends. The first, the maxi dress, saw everyone hunting in the shops for the perfect floor length dress for them. There were bold prints, funky boho styles, modern minimalist versions and elegant evening dresses. No question, the maxi dress is one item no wardrobe dared to be without this summer.

Another dramatic trend of summer 2010 is the new breed of gladiator sandal. Half sandal, half boot these strappy numbers can wind around your leg as high as your knees if you choose. Flat, strong and wonderfully comfortable, a strong factor in the appeal of this trend is its sheer practicality.

As for Winter of this year, one of the major trends is set to be sheepskin. Designer collections boasted scarves, hats, coats, boots and jackets all tailored out of this most cosy and comforting of fabrics.

A new trend for Winter was the huge tribal jewellery including bold necklaces, heavy cuffs and oversized earrings. A continuation of the tribal summer look, it worked with the sheepskin impeccably.
