With all the electronic stuff coming out one after another, tempting purchases despite the need to save has become an exasperating ordeal. So where does this leave us?

It is a given that we are already familiar with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. We need to focus on what we need according to priority namely, food, shelter and clothing. But somehow, we tend to forget that. We are blinded by technology breakthroughs, something that has obviously become critical for us to be able to financially survive in this given time and age.

Mobile phones, laptops and cars are only some of the things that people can truly live without. Indeed, they are no longer deemed extra wants but rather necessities which depend a lot on a person’s lifestyle. Mobile devices have been integrated into routine business and personal needs, becoming a new fad that only upper classes can afford. Compared to the good old days, one could live without a computer or even a cellular phone. They can always rely on the trusty payphones where it only takes them a couple of dimes to make a call, important or not. Heck, data communication wasn’t even existent and yet we managed to survive!

So how do we survive these tempting ordeals during the recession period we now face? Well one is looking at alternative products. Branding is important but for the time being, it seems apparent that we should be catering more towards being practical and realistic. There are a lot of product reviews, professional and impromptu which can be a good source for consumer buying behavior. There will be positive and negative feedbacks but do bear in mind that you have to leave an open minded to make the right decision.

Money is hard to come by these days. No longer is it a simple case of being able to work and then save for a rainy day. Higher product prices and some add-ons have made it next to hard to save a penny. In all, you really have to try hard to be able to combat these forces, something many of us have a hard time with. Today, many are in the red as far as their savings are concerned. And while many want to avoid the critical level of their funds, consumer product availability has certainly become a devil in its own.

Companies are being blamed for the soaring prices of their products. But in reality, consumers still have the last say on either getting or passing on a particular product. Businesses apply the necessary costing, much of which are needed to prevent them from closing or encountering losses. This is one aspect not all people will not understand mainly because they want the best prices...period!

Hence the best alternative is to seek a reliable source for product reviews and leads to good deals. Branding is taking a backseat for now which is pretty much understandable. There will be a few who would not do so, but if a marketing plan would come out to show the qualities and traits of products for people to compare then perhaps sensible consumer buying can be realized.
