Kettlebells were first used more than 150 years ago. They look like an old fashioned cannonball but with the addition ofa handle. In fact the first ones maybe have been made out of cannon balls! As with anything, to understand them better, you need to know as much as you can about them. Don't make the mistake of thinking that any random trainer can deliver adequate training with them. I do not pretend to teach Pilates on a reformer or Bikram Yoga since I am not trained, just because I hold other certifications and have a general notion of physiology. The Russian Kettlebell is an extreme hand-held exercise product and similar to other gym equipment, if used improperly, you can hurt yourself. But do not be afraid of its imposing look, because it can deliver more for you in less time than a regular workout with more versatility than most fitness gear combined! It will find your weak spots and make you stronger!

Kettlebells are better than calisthenics, because while you have full access to your body anytime, you're bounded by the load you can place on your body.

Kettlebells are even superior to dumbbells because, in addition to challenging your stabilization (whether worked unilaterally or bilaterally), a dumbbell's grip offers limitations for certain movements that the kettlebell's handle makes easier (such as pistol squats or front squats, with the kettlebell comfortably racked up, or parallel versus diagonal grip for presses or snatches). Swung quickly, they provide tremendous power and cardio, for sustained strength and endurance.

The RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) system is the only training school out there, that will properly teach you extreme deceleration, a skill often overlooked in sports like soccer and basketball where constant stop-n-go, sudden stops and changes in direction occur. No other tool like the Russian Kettlebell will improve your ability for hip thrusts for activities that include kicking, jumping etc.

Its thick handle offset from the center of mass optimize shoulder strength and agility, develops a vice-like grip, maximize wrist strength and thickness and create powerful forearms. The kettlebell is great for the development of hand-eye coordination skills by passing it from hand to hand. It has been described as"the closest thing to fighting without throwing a punch". The resilience you'll build in your back, not to mention the rest of your body will turn your body into steel, yet with the flexibility and speed of a gazelle, working in non-linear planes of motion, a component unmatched by ordinary equipment. I hope I haven't scared off the ladies - check out Andrea Ducane and see how ripped she is as opposed to just all muscle

What does a kettlebell workout comprise of? You got it, presses and pulls.

The swing, the clean, the military press, the squat, the snatch and the get-up contain all the movements ever needed in life, sports and complete fitness. Practice these and you'll be athletic for life!

And what if want change? Work for time instead of working for reps.
