Network marketing is similar to any other industry in the world. It’s a little odd that people think it will really be simple to become a millionaire…. I know that’s what I thought anyway. If you were starting a restaurant or a real estate business, would you think that you could sit around all day and in two weeks be living the high life? No, you wouldn’t. It’s plain economics. If everybody could earn lots of money right away, the market would get inundated and then it would become much more difficult to make money.

So, I’m telling you that this business is nowhere close to as easy and simple as everybody claims it is. In my opinion, I think it may be easier than many others because most of the products are digital and you can run it from home. But only a very small percentage of people are actually experiencing success, so how is it easy?

The point I want to make is a lot similar to playing the piano. How many people do you know have ever had lessons in their life? It’s actually quite a lot. How many of them are actually decent? I love to play the piano, and I’ve gotten to the point where I’m pretty good. It took me years of lessons and about a decade of playing everyday to get to be decent at it. Tons of people try it, but few are good at it. This is actually the same with just about anything else in life. Sports, cooking, puzzles, writing… there are a bazillion examples of activities that many people have tried, but hardly any actually get very good at them.

Network marketing is precisely the same. There really is only one stupid little thing that separates the successful from the not. The difference is MASSIVE ACTION! Every success story I’ve heard starts out with how broke and how much in debt they were. They had to work and work and work to get to where they are now! These are the people that don’t surrender when their content pieces aren’t generating leads after 2 weeks, or their blog isn’t getting lots of traffic right away. They realize that what distinguishes them from the failures is their resistance to quitting.

Don’t give yourself a timetable for when you are going to have success. It’s good to have goals, but you should never give yourself an ultimatum, like do this by next month or I’m finished. This will set you up for failure because you'll be frantic and odds are you won't be reasonable and give yourself enough time to build a profitable business.

Get off the sidelines and get into the game. You have to work hard and you have to do it for a while before you will really see results. I assure you the only tactic to beat the odds is to do what others aren’t willing to do: work your butt off.
