Where Would We Be Without Hot Water?

What would life be like if we did not have hot water? Washing dishes would be more difficult and less sanitary, and it would be harder to get clothes clean. Bathing would not be very pleasant and would probably be less frequent. People tend to take it for granted that they can turn a faucet on and have hot water whenever they want it, and many people use much more of it than necessary.

Over the years, there have been vast improvements in the way humans have managed to obtain hot water. There were the days of heating water in a big pot over an open fire, which was not very convenient. Later, when people acquired big cast iron cooking stoves, they heated water in a pan on the stove or in a tank attached to it. If you are too young to remember the Saturday night bath ritual, you have probably heard about it.

Because of the inconvenience involved in the endeavor, most people bathed only once a week, on Saturday night, in preparation for church attendance and a day of rest on Sunday. Water was heated on the stove and poured into a large wash tub. This event usually took place in the kitchen, so they did not have to carry water to the bedrooms and possibly spill some of it. Family members took turns bathing, and several people used the same water, so the dirtiest person commonly had the last turn.

Hot water is a precious commodity, and we are fortunate today, because we can simply turn a knob and get water from a hot water tank anytime we want it. However, sometimes those modern conveniences break. When that happens, you need the services of a qualified technician. Most reputable plumbers are available to take care of any problem whenever it occurs. Licensed bonded plumbers are available to get your hot water going again any time you need them.

If your hot water tank is getting old, consider replacing it with a new energy efficient model. There are tankless water heaters that supply an endless flow of hot water without the necessity of a large tank taking up space in your home. Not only that, you won't have to keep a large tank of water hot even when you don't need it. Consult us to discuss Cobb County water heaters, and we can help you to determine the best option for your home or business.
