In the last year profit greedy businesses in the United kingdom just became far too greedy! Many people now are at last starting to see the variation in production quality when buying Dvd cases. Its a matter of 'most of the time you get what you pay for' and has been for the last 9 months. Why the last few months, well last winter oil production costs went through the roof and with that increase consignment costs also shot up - with 90 % of the United kingdom's supply of Dvd boxes coming from The far east this obviously meant the average shipment cost of a 20ft shipping container more than doubled.

In 2008 with economical shipping charges wholesale Dvd-r case prices were around 5p a case for the inferior but acceptable quality boxes, 1.6 cents of this cost relating to the cost of consignment from China to the Uk ports - so what happened in 2009 and how come public now have come to buy the higher quality boxes? - Let me tell you, In spring 2009 with oil and gas prices still elevated companies had no choice but to push the price up of the low-cost boxes, so much so that a discounted box went from approximately 5 p to 7.8p in a matter of weeks - but what occurred next was the final nail in the coffin for those inferior boxes which contain a large percentage of recycled material (you can smell the quality of Dvd cases - literally you can! The cheaper the boxes the more they smell!) - anyway finally oil prices dropped and so did the delivery charges, but the businesses in the Uk chose to form a cartel and not decrease the price of their cases, effectively fixing the pricing for quite a few months between 6.5 and 7.5 pence a unit.

The profiteering that caused the demise of these poor quality boxes, the differential between the discounted cases and quality products such as Amaray or Coral was now tiny and slowly but surely clients moved in large numbers toward the much improved products. Now that the companies continue to operate their fixed prices Far Eastern factories took the chance to also leisurely swell their price for the Dvd cases and caught the businesses at their own game.

A recent survey of the customers of Dvd-and-Media UK (with over 68 ,000 consumers for Dvd cases in the United kingdom) revealed some records that totally confirmed my reservations regarding price versus quality - of the 645 people questioned an awesome 91% said they would choose a quality Dvd case like Amaray over a low-cost Far eastern reproduction based on current price levels and when questioned at which point would they change back to the economical product and given a range of price differentials 48 % believed they would definitely not switch regardless of price and 32 % expressed that the Amaray price would certainly have to be more than 2 times higher than that of the low-priced prices for them to switch.
