What Is So Awesome About Wicker Furniture?

Why do I like wicker furniture? It's simple: it brings back memories. My big sister (who is almost like a 2nd mom to me) used to have wicker chairs and other wicker furniture in her apartment. Whenever I see wicker, I think of her!

I like how it's woven, and the sound it makes when you sit in it. It makes a slight crunch almost like the sound of stepping on small branches and leaves in the autumn. There is something not only nostalgic but comforting about that sound.

Another thing that's great about wicker is that is has that rustic look to it. A lot of furniture is clinical and impersonal. Wicker is very earthy and inviting. There's just something special about the way it looks. And it is unique in contrast to regular wood furniture.

Wicker reminds me of fine poetry, specialty coffees, great books, the arts, and culture. I don't know why. Maybe it's because these are some of the things my sister appreciates; things that I, too, learned to appreciate from being her brother. Isn't it funny how the things that someone you love cares about, become the things you care about because it makes you think of that loved one?

It's amazing to me how many pieces of furniture can be made out of wicker! I have seen everything from coffee tables, end tables, and chairs to couches, love seats, benches, and even storage chests! Can you imagine having an entire room, or even more extreme - an entire home of wicker furniture! That would be so odd, but if you love wicker, it could be great!

Some people don't seem to like wicker furniture. Maybe they think it's not in style anymore, or maybe they think it's just not their style in particular. Perhaps they don't think wicker is very classy. I happen to think it is! But that’s me!

My brother and I have a joke: what if there were such things as 24-hour wicker stores? How funny would that be to be sitting around at like 1 o'clock in the morning and suddenly say, completely at random, "Hey, is anyone else craving wicker furniture?? I know I could go for some, right about now!" That would be hilarious!

And, you know what? Even though I don't think I'd be the person to get that craving, if someone else did, I would definitely go! Just so I could say, at work the next day, "I went to a 24-hour wicker store totally at random, for no good reason, last night—and that's why I'm so tired at work this morning." I think if you were late for work and that was your excuse, your boss just might let you slide because of how hysterically funny the whole idea is! Even if he didn't believe you, he'd have to give you some credit for being creative!!!

Wicker is just one of those things. It's like marbles, big wheels, trampolines, micro fiber, and so on-things that are just totally one-of-a-kind and cannot be truly replaced by anything similar. I think when we get to Heaven, there just might be a 24-hour wicker store. If there isn't, we should really build one! Haha!!!
