There are two ways you can go about your bookmark printing: it’s either you look for simple blank templates to download, or you can also go online where you can upload your pictures and then design your custom bookmarks online.

If you go for free printable blank bookmark templates there are websites you can get these from. There are plenty of websites where you can find a selection of free blank templates that you may download and print for yourself. Usually, the blank templates are in the size of 2 x 8 inches, and are available in different colors. And if you find the size a bit big for your taste, you can always trim your custom bookmarks down to fit the size you need.

After downloading the templates, you can then add your pictures or graphic images and message before you print your template. Once you’re done designing, you can then print them on heavy paper or card stock. Just one note though: if you are using colored paper, be sure to use white or no color bookmark template when you print them out. So once printed, you can then trim your bookmarks to the size you need.

If you are going make your own templates, you can start by measuring out your own blank template to the size you desire. Do it directly on your heavy paper or card stock with a pencil and ruler. Regular dimensions are 2 x 6 inches, 2 x 7 inches, 2 x 8 inches, and 2 ¼ x 6 ¾ inches.

The advantage of doing your own bookmark template is that you will be able to customize it to the shape and size you want. So instead of having a plain rectangular bookmark, you can always add flair and pizzazz to your bookmark printing by applying for example a die cut design such as that of the curved edge or wavy sizes. You can also utilize different items to trace and cut your bookmark shape. You can then use a craft knife (for those serious with bookmark projects, there’s the X-ACTO knife available in the market) to cut out your design from your paper stock.

And if you intend to go for those online bookmark generators, you can always design your bookmarks online and then either have a printing company print them for you in bulk, or download them after designing and then print them out in your personal laser printer. The downside to this route is that many of these sites often include their brand on the designed template that when you print them out, your bookmarks would certainly bear the brand on your paper.

The bottom line is that printing bookmarks is actually easy. All you have to do is to download a template and customize it to the design you want and need. Afterwards, you will have a giveaway that is more personal and special to your recipients because you made them yourself.
