Read More About Home.

If you use the Internet to search for free home insurance quotes, then proceed with caution! There are fraudulent sites out there that are using as a lure the offer of free qoutes just to get your personal information.

Your online search for real home insurance quotes will be no picnic and by the way, your offline search will be no walk in the park either. Are you wondering who you can rely on to give you a legitimate home insurance quote?

Don't get Snared by Online Insurance Rip-Offs
As a homeowner using the Internet to locate insurance quotes, you must guard against sites who offer "free" qoutes, but are really planning to steal your identity.

Once they have your data, they will either use it personally, or sell it to the highest bidder who in turn, will bombard you with unwanted goods/services or it you get someone really nasty, they will steal you identity.

Guard This Very Important Number
If folks would stop giving their social security number to websites, then there would be no need for me to mention it here. But unfortunately, people, despite all the warnings and exposés, continue to give their social security numbers to crooked Internet sites. Go figure! Listen, you do not need to give your social security number to anyone offering you a "free" home insurance quote.

Cheap Homeowners Insurance
If you ever go to a site that asks you for such information leave immediately and clear your cookie history to prevent them from soliciting you in the future.

At a time when people's identity is being stolen left, right, and center, you would think that common sense would dictate not to give your SSN# to anyone offering you a home insurance quote. But as a wise person once told me, common sense is not so common.

Well What About My Home Address?
It is not out of the ordinary for company's promoting free online home insurance quotes to ask for your home address. They need this information to determine if they are licensed to do business where you live and two, you location determines, in part, insurance coverage and rates.

Homeowners Insurance Quote
Are looking to be a little more careful about this? If so, give a fake house number, but give them you actual city, state, and zip code so you can receive a reliable quote.

After you have decided on the insurance company that you really want to go with and you have spoken to a representative on the phone, then you can and will need to give your real home address. I assure you this is not being dishonest, this is being prudent and cautious. I don’t know about you, but I do not want everyone and their Mother having my home address.

How to Reach Them
Legitimate online services/companies always post their street address and phone number, which enables you to talk to a real human being, and not a crackling answering machine. If they have not posted their "Here's how you can reach us" info, then get off that site!

If the website is posted by a legitimate company, then you should find their About Us and Contact Us links at the bottom of the page or some where else on the first page of their site. If they are not there, then this is a telling sign that the site is operated by a thief of thieves and you should click away from it immediately!
