Wall décor can be as simple as a framed photograph or as complicated as a floor to ceiling mural. Your choice of wall décor should complement the room rather than overwhelm it. If you want to maintain continuity within your home, put a wall decor plan in place and pick and choose your wall decorations to fit your plan rather than accumulating randomly the things you want to see on your wall. Although, choosing your wall décor randomly will give your walls the eclectic look. If that is what you are shooting for you’ve got it nailed.

There is a lot of options available for your wall décor. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

Photographs: Nothing tells the story of a family better than photographs. Nothing compliments a family room better than a collection of family photographs. Single photographs or a collage will provide your guests with an insight into your family and provide your family with moments for reminiscing. Each wall can represent a different generation. The photographs will become the focal point of the room rather than the furnishings. This type of wall décor can be updated as the family gets older, giving the room a fresh look from time to time.

Art: While there is nothing wrong with a blank wall, adding a nice painting to your repertoire of wall décor will add a point of interest to your room. Art can add the color that is missing from the room or compliment the color that is present in the room. Art is an individual choice. It might be nice to follow the art trend but it is up to you if the art you want does what you want it to do. You may like a particular piece of art but your significant other doesn’t. But if it adds the necessary component you want for the room, your choice of wall décor is right on the money.

Mural: An interesting wall décor in any home is a mural. Whether it is in the entry way to the home or a designated room, it will provide the focal point for that room. Wall murals can be individually painted or produced on a stick on application. It can be a favorite photograph or painting. A scenic mural will add the look and feel of the great outdoors while a colorful, playful mural might just be the thing for your child’s room.

Fabric Wall Covering: An alternative to wall paper is fabric wall covering. Fabric will provide warmth and add depth to your room. If you have a room you change frequently, a fabric wall will provide the ease of making constant changes to your wall décor. If you rent a house or apartment and the owner doesn’t want to deviate from the standard white or eggshell paint, fabric wall covering is a great wall décor. Most fabrics can be attached to the wall with starch and will not damage the wall.
