WARNING! WARNING! Wind Farms and Automated Cars Ahead!!

There is more and more talk about using alternative energy in the form of wind, wave, and solar energy farms to produce electricity. However these may have a cost to the environment as birds and fish may get caught up in these systems and perish. Therefore I propose that signs be posted required stating that “Wind Farm Ahead” or “Solar Farm Ahead” so that birds are warned and “Wave Farm Ahead” so that fish are warned about these obstacles that may be in their paths!

Of course since birds and fish can’t read signs (duh :-), we have to figure out the International symbol equivalent to what birds and fish can understand. Perhaps a picture or a replica of a shark moving about could be used to warn the fish and cut-out of a man standing with a shotgun to warn birds out of harm’s way.

Better yet, why not take a closer look at nuclear energy. I understand that it is now the cheapest and safest way to produce abundant energy. Yes, we know about 3 Mile Island and worst at Chernobyl, however like the Challenger and Columbia space shuttle disasters, we can and have learned from our mistakes and can now build 100 percent fail system systems! And with the miles and miles of high voltage transmission towers carrying electricity across long distances, remote safe places can be found to locate these facilities. Perhaps in the middle of mountain valleys, deserts, oceans, or lakes, or even near the top and bottom of the world.

And I think that these electric and hybrid cars should be equipped with some sort of a sliding plug that could pick up energy from the center barrier on the Interstates and Major highways. So as these cars move along, they would also be recharged! And while we are at it, have wireless Internet access be available along these center barriers too! So while we are driving along on our trips on the Interstates and Major highways our cars are recharging and we 100 access to the Internet too!

And for my last great, great, and I must say brilliant idea (at least to make the 500 word minimum), lets add GPS to all the cars too! No, not to tell you where you are at and how to get to where you are going, but to tell the computer sensors in the barrier that you are there and how far apart you are from the car ahead (and to brake when necessary), and how close you are to being waken up as you get nearer your highway exit!

Of course each car would have to be equipped with several radar devices. Not so expensive now a days, I understand. Maybe $10 each? Maybe only 4! One for each corner of the car!! Detecting things that the driver normally looks for when driving. Like Lions, and Tigers and Bears (Oh My!) and Deer and Cows and Elks and other animals and objects on the road. But better because radar can see in the dark and fog and thru smoke! And we better have a water level (road surface), temperature, and wind gauges too. All to make for an 100% automated car!!

Wake me up Scotty, when we get there (least near our highway exit)!
