The question I hear so often is "How do I know if this is a fake or a legitimate home opportunity?" Well, if you have to ask, you are in the wrong field. Run while you can. Now that is not to say that even the most savvy independent representatives and home based business professionals have not been taken for a sucker. Let's face it, in this economy, a promise of riches looks really good to just about anyone.

The first signal of a scam is one that promises that you will make some quick money. If you want to make money fast, keep your day job and play the lottery. It costs you less money in the long run. There are many legitimate home based business opportunities that appear to be a scam out there. You know what I am talking about here. Very few people make a great deal of money in a very short period of time. What they neglect to say is that the "elite" few who are able to make a great deal of money are skilled direct sales representative with a very large mailing list.

A mailing list is an email list of people that have expressed interest in your business activities, many of whom will purchase or join the business. As one could imagine, having an established organization makes any legitimage home business opportunity easier to succeed in.

When you have an unskilled network marketer join a legitimate home base business without mentoring, this now becomes a so called "sham". What an unskilled entrepreneur does not know, is that much training was spent in learning the trade and the skills necessary to create successful networks.

Generally speaking, a lead capture page trades information for information. The lead capture page will give a taste of what will follow, but the potential customer has to supply an email and/or phone number for more information. (Thus the name "squeeze page".)
