Do you want to know about treating a yeast infection during pregnancy? If so, you are not alone. Yeast infections and pregnancy seem to go together. Because of the high levels of hormones produced during pregnancy, your body can become a breeding ground for yeast. Some of the best methods of eliminating yeast infection symptoms are used in treating a yeast infection during pregnancy.

Of course the best way to get rid of a yeast infection is to not get one in the first place. There are many things that you can do to avoid a yeast infection. Understand that yeast is present in the body and in the vagina at all times in healthy amounts. Yeast loves a warm and moist environment and multiplies rapidly when the conditions are right. Keeping this in mind will go a long way to avoiding yeast infections. Quickly get out of wet swimsuits or workout clothes, wear cotton underwear, and avoid tight clothing.

Sometimes yeast infections happen as a result of a good thing. For instance if you're taking antibiotics, you get rid of the bad bacteria but also the good bacteria that keeps your pH at a good level. Varying pH levels make it easier for the yeast to multiply, creating the infection. When that happens we want to know how to get rid of a yeast infection, preferably without using those over-the-counter creams. Some home remedies can be just as messy as the over-the-counter creams, but they're made with natural ingredients and cost less.

The biggest home remedy that people talk about is yogurt. Yes, yogurt can be used to get rid of a yeast infection. Use sugar-free, plain yogurt with active cultures. You need to get the yogurt into the vagina somehow. Many people will dip a tampon into the yogurt and place it in the vagina a couple of times a day. Or you can use some other method to scoop it inside the vagina. You can also spread some around the outside, the labia, for immediate relief. Yes this is just as messy as creams and you will need to use a pad.

If you're comfortable with tampons, you can use tea tree oil. A couple drops on a tampon placed in the vagina morning and night will bring relief quickly. I have also heard of people wrapping some garlic in cheesecloth and placing it in the vagina.

One home remedy that is soothing and good for treating a yeast infection during pregnancy is a warm bath with vinegar. Use about a cup of apple cider vinegar and soak in your bathtub. Not only is the warm water soothing but you can eliminate the symptoms of the yeast infection.

When your vagina is irritated by a yeast infection, I know I would much rather find some other way to get rid of the yeast infection. There is now a homeopathic spray that can cure a yeast infection. Two sprays under the tongue, three times a day will get rid of a yeast infection. Finally, relief without the mess.

Keep in mind that most of these remedies just treat the symptoms of a yeast infection. There are ways you can treat the infection and it will not return.
