Travel and Shopping Guide in Designer Town Milan

Milan is the fashion capital of the World. Paradise for high fashion shoppers and heaven for branded goods lover. All the famous fashion designer can be found here, with cheaper price! And from time to time you can also find a really good designer-branded bargain here.

In the street call Via Montenapoleone you can find the famous designer brand: Gucci, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Fratelli Rossetti, Etro, Loro Piana, Luis Vuitton, Prada, Valentino, Cartier and Tanino Crisci.

You can also find Chanel, Fendi, Armani, Moschino, Kenzo, Cesare Paciotti, Hermés, Prada and Trussardi on the street that across Montenapoleone called Sant'Andrea. In addition, the famous Via della Spiga; home to D&G, Prada and Bulgari can also be found in this area. More brand such as Krizia, Sergio Rossi, Gianfranco Ferré, Bottega Veneta, Tod's, Genny,and Chopard are also available.

We are missing one more famous brand here - aha ! by Giorgio Armani. On Via Manzoni, you can find Emperor Armani Fiori, showrooms and casa. After long shopping from Montenapoleone to Manzoni, you can relax here in the stylish Emperior Armani café. If you have done shopping for the whole day and need a really good meal, please have an excellent dinner at the best well know Japanese chef- Nobuyuki Matsuhisa in the restaurant called “Nobu” which Nobuyuki opened the chain restaurant joint venture with Robert De Niro.

Not into high fashion Branded goods or find that the high fashion branded goods are too expensive and want to find something cheaper yet good quality? You can find them in Milan too. It is really worth to shop in Milan indeed.

For more inexpensive goods yet branded, you can shop in 4 streets; Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Corso Buenos Aires, Via Torino and Corso di Porta Ticinese.

There are famous brand shops; Max Mara, Moreschi, Bruno Magli and Pollini,H&M, Zara and Furla can be found in Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

On Corso Buenos Aires, one of the longest streets in Europe, you can find Timberland, Mandarina Duck, Benetton, Kookai and Nara Camice.

For you who love sporty clothing, there is also a place for you to shop in Milan. You can find more casual, sportier style fashion such as Foot Locker, Camper and Energy on Via Torino.

Corso di Porta Ticinese is a continuation of Via Torino where you can find Piazza XXIV Maggio, which has brand such as Custo-Barcellona, Diesel, Miss Sixteen, Gas, etc. Also for those who are antique and vintage lover, you can find handmade cloth, accessory, vintage, second hand cloth shop and other unique and precious material.

One good thing that adds to the glee of shopper is the fact that the 14% sales tax from goods bought can be reclaimed back by non-EU citizens.

For those who are bargain hunter, do not miss the visit to branded outlet that can be found in the city centre. In city centre, you can find outlet for Dolce & Gabbana, Bruno Magli, etro, Kookai, Valextra, Bassett (bedding and linen) and many more. Outlet for many other goods such as Samsonite, Timberland, Dratelli Rossetti, Zucchi can also be found. In the outlet, you can find items from past collection with a bargain price.

There is also a popular factory outlet to be visited on your Milan’s visit. The place called “Foxtown Factory Store” in Chiasso. It is not in City centre in Milan, however it is not hard to get there. You can take train from Milan (about an hour) and after arriving in the Chiasso train station there is a shuttle bus which can take you to the factory outlet (about 5 minute).

Inside the factory, there are brand such as Prada, Gucci, Versace, Etro, Valentino, Loro Piana, YSL and many more shops. After travel a long way from Milan you ought to spend more time in the factory where you can find an absolute great bargain.

The Foxtown Factory store is open every day except Christmas, New Year and Easter from 11 AM to 7 PM.

Most shops in Milan open from 09.30 AM to 1 PM and then 3.30 PM to 7.30 PM, however some big stores open all day. Most shops close on Sunday and reopen on Monday afternoon, except food stores, which reopen on Monday morning but close again for the afternoon.

During Christmas season many shops open daily and for books lover, major bookshops are open until 11 PM. Many shops close for most of August.

For the hotel deals to stay if you want to have more convenient shopping at Via Montenapoleone is 4-star Hotel Manzoni, Milan. It is just a 10-minute walk from the city's major tourist sites and attractions, including the Duomo, the Pinacoteca di Brera and the Teatro Alla Scala theatre. The nearby underground station allows easy access to the rest of the city. It is also close to the major shopping district.

Another discount hotel which is 4-star at bargain price would be Cavour Hotel Milan. The Hotel Cavour Milano is situated in the heart of the city, a mere few steps from Milan’s chic fashion district comprising of the world renowned Via della Spiga, Via Manzoni and Via Montenapoleone and within walking distance of the main attractions of the Scala Theatre, Duomo cathedral and the glass-roofed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade.

Starhotels Rosa Grand is also a popular stay for shoppers. The hotel is surrounded by Via Montenapoleone, Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery and Italy's most famous Opera house, La Scala. All are within walking distance. Central train station is also just 5km away. Look out for hotel deals at Starhotels Rosa Grand.

For those of you that miss your relatives in hometown, you can save cost of calling back to your home country by using phone card to make international calls. This will definitely save you a lot of money instead of using hotel phones. You can use the savings for further shopping!
