Train Travel Brings Back The Bygone Age Of Lavishness

When anyone mentions the words train travel to you, do you immediately visualize lines of InterCity carriages in mucky railway stations being boarded by gray faced commuters? That has been one side of traveling by rail, admittedly, the business side - essential, but about as much pleasurable as a jump into cold porridge. Even so, travelling by rail beats car journeys hands down - no queues, no road rage and a journey smooth enough to have the ability to peruse, work or drink a coffee devoid of spilling it.

But perhaps you have thought there’s another side to Train Travel going on holiday via train just for the fun of it as well as travelling to fabulous getaways throughout the UK and Europe. Think of romance, think of luxury, think of ease, imagine superb cuisine and top quality wine served in lavish surroundings; the trimmings of a bygone age of modishness that you simply thought had vanished forever.

Imagine the Orient Express.

Taking a trip on the Orient Express is like travelling toward a different and thrilling world. Imagine visiting great European metropolitan areas like Venice and Prague on the historic Simplon Orient Express which still uses the original carriages built in the 1920s complete with magnificent Lalique Glass panels, wonderful Art Deco interiors plus antique wood burning stoves.

It seems erroneous to class the Orient Express as merely a train; this is more like a five-star hotel on rails. If you take the trip from Venice to London you can voyage passing through Prague, spending a few days in that amazing, historic metropolis in the luxury of its single five-star hotel. Try cycling or else hiking in the sweeping Bohemian countryside where you are feeling you can see to the tip of the earth, or have a less active day with a drive in an open carriage ending with a picnic. At the end of the day go back to the Orient Express for a superb meal served by white- jacketed waiters whose lone job is to anticipate your every need. What a life!

The romantic mystique and splendor of the Orient Express calls for you back in time; everyone dresses for ceremonial dinner, then hours of daylight tea is served every on top of fine china that Agatha Christie herself would have approved of. Without a murder in glimpse ?.

It has to be admitted that travelling on the Orient Express is absolutely not economical (did you suppose it to be?), but it may become better price than you initially think, with prices including all meals, service and private accommodation. Hence if you happen to yearn for the romance and luxury of a trip on the Orient Express, prices begin from around £500 for London to Paris (one day), to as much as £5,000 for the ultimate five night trip Paris to Istanbul. Surely the trip of your lifetime!
