Tips For Parking At Manchester Airport

I’ve travelled out of Manchester dozens of times, usually on short business trips so I always use the parking companies there. Parking at Manchester Airport itself is of course pretty dear unless you can afford a short time fee. There are several other cheaper options which I book over the internet and having tried almost all of them I’m somewhat of an expert (even if I have to say so myself). I thought by sharing my experiences it might save you lots of hassle.

Over the years I’ve tried all sorts of alternatives for off-site Parking at Manchester airport, with mixed results. All of them are secure and mostly professionally run, but at the end of the day it depends on how much time you have before your flight and which direction you are coming from. Price varies accordingly.

The best option, if you want to treat yourself is the chauffeured parking, because you simply drive up to the airport, get out with your luggage and let them take the car away. When you get back you call them (while disembarking sometimes) and there they are waiting for me! Companies that offer this are Global Chauffeur and Meet and Greet Parking Manchester Airport – but they cost a bit more.

The closest parking sites to Manchester airport are Premier Parking (8 minutes by shuttle), and APH (about 5 minutes), but sometimes you waste 10 minutes waiting for a shuttle. Most of the parking places have one leaving every 10 or 15 minutes, others that are fairly close are; Autostrong (which is tricky to find), Ringway (much easier to find) and Airparks (easier to find approaching from the North), Secure Parking is one of the furthest away – I think it took me 20 minutes to reach the airport, had me a little nervous!

Servicewise they’re all much the same really for parking at Manchester, I’ve been back to Autostrong a few times, they are very efficient and don’t waste time on all sorts of paperwork. Getting back is also a breeze, no waiting around or hassles getting your car out. Sometimes they ask to keep your keys and move your car around, which is fine by me.

I suppose it all depends on whether you are familiar with the area or not, some of these can be tricky to find, or easy from one direction but a real puzzle from the opposite way. Of course, cost is a consideration too. The cheapest ones are furthest away so make sure you get to the area well ahead of check in time, if you’re not confident then just go for the valet service, which is pretty painless.

In fact using online sites to plan your trip is about the best advice I can give, don’t be afraid of them, they usually do offer the best deals, especially the aggregated ones that offer the best deals across all the available options. It makes it all some much more painless. Here are some of my favourites for your benefit.
