Is your penis red and sore on the head, and does the foreskin display a rash? Is there a white, cottage cheese-like discharge? Unbeknownst to you, your system could be infected with the male yeast infection.

Also called candidiasis, yeast infections are normally produced from a certain fungus known as candida albicans. Like most yeast infections they are annoying but not dangerous. However, there are some types of infections that can be deadly. Patients with severely compromised immune systems, for example, patients undergoing treatment for cancer, organ transplant recipients, or those with AIDS are individuals who get the more serious yeast infections.

External skin infections and infections found on mucous membranes are more spread, generally bringing on local irritation, itching, pain and redness. Itching could be more severe in the crotch region, causing tenderness, discomfort and a burning sensation. There is a whitish fluid with a cottage cheese texture, when you are a women with a yeast infection. Some men feel embarrassed when they find out that they are dealing with a yeast infection. A lot of people believe yeast infections are something only women have. This justisn't true. Guys can also be infected by genital candidiasis, something we don't hear a lot about. It doesn t happen all the time, but a man can catch a genital candidiasis if he has unprotected sex with a woman who has the disease.

Extreme itching, burning, and a red rash on the penis end are signs that you have contracted a male yeast infection. Red patchy sores can appear on the foreskin or near the penis' head. Just like in a vaginal yeast infection, a penis suffering from candidiasis can also have a discharge like a cottage cheese like substance, but it is not quite as common. There are some circumstances in which no symptoms of an infection show up at all, though a more serious degree of the infection could arise later on in life.

The risk for a yeast infection can be determined by considering several aspects. Lengthy antibiotic use, for example, reduces the number of good bacteria in your body, allowing the fungus Candida to gain a foothold and reproduce unchecked. The same thing can happen if you have an impaired immune system. If you do not have the white blood cells or antibodies to fight off the candida albicans, it will gain enough numbers to produce a yeast infection. Diabetics are also at increased risk. If you have high levels of sugar in your bloodstream as well as mucus secretions, this provides great conditions for the fungus to grow quickly.

So if you think you are suffering from male yeast infection, then maybe you are. If you have any of the symptoms we just identified, there is a possibility that you could be infected with Candida. You have to understand that being a man does not mean you will not develop a yeast infection.
