The United states of America made a decision in 2003 to invade Iraq. This war was meant to be a way to remove the hidden danger that could come from Iraq. This war costs the United Stated a very big budget and hundreds of its sons and daughter.
The History of War on Iraq
Terrorist attacks on the United States in 2001 had a big role in causing the war on Iraq in 2003. The Ministry of Defense in the United States speculated that Saddam Hussein has a role in these attacks. A year after September 11 attacks, the United States government considered a plan of war on Iraq. This plan was a part of Bush's plan to fight terrorism. The United States government prepared everything necessary to do the attack. The United Nations showed willingness to support the United States with additional forces ("Iraq War History").
In 2003, the United States made the attack on Iraq, the attack was successful and the Iraqi forces couldn't resist the power of the American forces. Some people said that one of the reasons that made this attack very successful is the fact that the United States paid money to the "Iraqi military leaders to defect". One of the newly retired leaders in the United States military back then revealed the truth; he said that what has been said about paying money from the United States government to the Iraqi military leaders is true ("Iraq War History").

The United States decided to invade Iraq for many purposes, those purposes include: Making Iraq free of "weapons of mass destruction", saving Iraq from the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein and providing help to needy people. Many countries from around the world disagreed with the idea of the war on Iraq, but in the other hand many countries agreed with this war and even sent forces to help the United States in this mission. The countries who contributed with the biggest numbers of forces are "United States (250,000), United Kingdom (45,000), Australia (2,000), Denmark (200), and Poland (54)" ("Iraq War History").

How much did The United States Lose in this War?
1. Economic losses: The estimated total cost for the war in Iraq is approximately "$1 trillion". The war in Iraq caused a loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs. If the war continues the number of lost job will increase (Baker).
2. Human lives: "According to the Department of Defense, approximately 4,000 U.S. servicemen and women have died since March 19, 2003, and over 2,000 of those were soldiers enlisted in the Army". There are also tens of thousands of Iraqi people who died during the war (Hendricks).

The issue of War in Iraq is one of the main issues in the 2008 presidential elections in the United States. Barack Obama is the presidential candidate from the Democrats, and John McCain from the Republicans.
