b) The University of Melbourne ranks second in the country and has programs in business, education, engineering, medicine and law that is considered the best in the world.

c) The University of Sydney ranks third in Australia and its strengths lie in research performance. It also has the second largest student population in the country.

d) The University of Queensland is located near the Brisbane Central Business District and is part of the international network of research intensive universities named “the Sandstone Universities”.

e) The University of Western Australia is ranked fifth in the country and is the host to at least a hundred Rhodes Scholars in its student population.

f) The University of New South Wales is sixth in the list and leads the country in the fields of energy research, quantum computing, nanotechnology, information technology and engineering as well as the bio-medical sciences.

g) Macquarie University is a public teaching and research university located in Sydney. Its primary courses include business and finance, actuarial studies, quantum informatics, biomolecular science as well as climate studies.
