New Zealand is often viewed as the smaller brother of Australia, but in itself, is considered as another utopia in the area. There have been many comments and articles have provided their opinions as well as their views on the true beauty and richness of New Zealand. In reading all these posts, you can find out the reasons for moving to New Zealand.

The New Zealand economy is considered as a developed economy where nearly two-thirds of its Gross Domestic Product comes from the service sector while the other parts come from the manufacturing, construction and agricultural sectors of the economy. There is also a high dependence on imported goods from nearby countries, as it is quite isolated in its location. It also has many standing free trade agreements with many other countries throughout the world.

Another good reason for moving to New Zealand is the healthcare system in the country. New Zealand’s healthcare system is much more expensive compared to those in the United Kingdom. The expensive care though is translated to the most modern in the world today. This may seem to be a drawback for many, but the cost is well worth it as there are many options for healthcare in the country.

The cost of living in New Zealand is greatly dependent on the location within the country. One major aspect of the high cost is the great need for imported goods into the country. Corollarily, the isolation of the country also increases the costs of exportation of goods to other countries. The small market and its isolation contribute to the high costs of importation to the country.

The property costs in New Zealand has received many stinging rebukes online. Some have said that homes in New Zealand, aside from being expensive, are nothing more than garden sheds. There is a minority though that says that recent property developments in the country have steadily improved to the level at par with those in the United Kingdom.

Another attention grabbing aspect of New Zealand life is the crime rate in the country. Some of these headlines though need to be further examined as the crime rate of the country varies from locality to locality.

One good reason why New Zealand has become a favorite destination for expats and immigrants is the weather. Do not be confused though as the weather in New Zealand is quite extreme. For the most part of the year, the weather is mild and temperate and the extremes are seen by the amount of rainfall particular areas receive. On the average, Auckland the capital city receives twice as much precipitation compared to Christchurch, the next largest city in the country.

When moving to New Zealand, you need to do complete research and properly apprise yourself as to the needs and expenses when immigrating. You also need to look for the areas in New Zealand which are best suited for you and your family. The area determines the property costs as well as the general cost of living in New Zealand.
