Who do you have confidence in to guide you about the highest rated anti-aging skincare products? It almost is like everyone has secret motives. A critic might actually be confident in a product. But, does the critic know why it works or why it doesn't?

This is just a little bit of information from someone that has been writing about and rating cosmetics for many years. My only ulterior motivation is to help everyone learn what is beneficial for their skin's well-being and why that is critical.

Firming excess skin is one of the goals of people who may have lately lost weight and of people that are aging. It might also be the goal of someone looking at a family picture. Folds on the under the chin tend to run in families. Regardless of your reason for desiring to change your appearance, here's what you can do in one word; mouisturize.

When they are well hydrated, the skin's layers grow tighter and smoother. Being sure to drink enough clean H2O, daily, is a good idea, but for the ultimate results, you need to hydrate from the outside in.

The protein that makes up the skin's outer layers is called keratin. Keratin is able to absorb water, which plumps up the skin's cells.

The production of keratinized cells decreases with age, as does the cell turnover rate and the formation of elastin fibers. Creams containing a form of soluble keratin, derived from sheep's wool, has been shown to encourage the building of new skin cells by as much as 160% in as little as 3 days.

With more keratin in the layers of the skin, it becomes tighter and more elastic. When it comes to tightening loose skin, the use of the same keratin-rich products for 18 days has been shown to provide a 40% improvement. The skin's ability to retain water also improves.

Many of today's top rated anti wrinkle creams contain protein. Some of them can be absorbed. Others cannot. Some are active. Others are inactive.

An inactive protein product is nothing more than gel. It makes your face shiny, but it does not help your skin's cells. Any effect that it has is purely cosmetic.

Many of today's top rated anti wrinkle skin care products contain hyaluronic acid. That makes sense, because hyaluronic acid levels are lower as we age. The compound is responsible for the skin's smoothness. It acts like glue.

Until recently, the regular use of creams containing hyaluronic acid is something that I recommended. But, that was before I learned about wakame kelp extracts.

It seems that hyaluronic acid is quickly broken down by enzymatic activity. So, no matter how much we add to the skin's outermost layer, it dissolves pretty quickly.

It is a known fact that petrolatum, mineral oil and paraffin do not improve the skin's moisture content. They are not absorbed into the skin's cells. So, there are no benefits for tightening loose skin.

Many of yesterday's top rated anti wrinkle skin care products contained artificial dyes and colors, because they had a cosmetic effect. The pigments bend the light, slightly, which makes wrinkles look less deep.

Petrolatum, mineral oil and paraffin clog the pores and interfere with the skin's natural rejuvenation processes. In large amounts, they can cause premature aging of the skin. So, even if you are not concerned about the risks to your health, you should be able to see that avoiding those ingredients is the right thing to do.

The use of a good nighttime cream can help with tightening loose skin, if it contains the right ingredients. Things like avocado extract have been shown to increase the production of collagen fibers, which are ultimately responsible for the skin's elastic nature.
