Your employees are in fact a big resource for additional sales. We call this New Employee Business.

You can do this with employees no matter how long they have been with you, but mostly we concentrate on recent employees.

Your employees have buddies and folks that are perfect potential buyers for your offering. It's just a matter of making the idea a benefit to the employee, and feel like a great deal for the acquaintances and folks.
Basically what we do is arrange an Employee Bonus Campaign. It sure sounds much better than the We Require More Profit Campaign, doesn't it?
We have the employees call up their friends and relatives (on or off premises), and have them give the friends a special present to simply come in and take a look at our offering. It's typically a free pizza certificate from a neighboring pizza shop. Very nearly any pizza shop will trade you certificates for a free pizza for $2.00 or $3.00 apiece. They just would like to cover their real expense to build the pizza, and they get a new customer. They also sell that customer soda, chips, and sandwiches.
The employee's buddy comes in our store (this will work in any company), and we clarify that the employee gets a reward if they purchase our product. The first thing we do though, is present them the pizza certificate. If you hold back their item, it's what they will be contemplating until you hand it to them.

We give the employee a 10% bonus on any sale completed that day to their friend. Of course, the bonus is dependent on your markup, and what you are presenting them. It helps if the employee is at hand while you describe the program and demonstrate the acquaintance or family member your merchandise. However, there is no pressure from you...but there is sizeable peer pressure for the acquaintance to buy something.
Mom and dad or other close relations almost universally buy something if they are even somewhat in the market for what you have. associates will also buy, but not universally.

We make a enormous deal about the new employee receiving their bonus. The people we are showing are eager to aid their acquaintance or family member. They get a superior product (it helps if there is a unique price or offer exactly for them). The employee gets more cash in their pay envelope than they ordinarily get. And you pick up a new swell of business at very nearly no advertising expense to you.
Isn't that what we all desire?
