Whatever the type of vacation you prefer, you will be able to find something that suits you perfectly in Denmark. Denmark's most distinctive feature is its variety - you will find everything ranging from mighty architecture locked in time to glittering modern cities. Although Denmark's within the European Union, it's single connection is via the narrow peninsula of Jutland. A good portion of the country is hundreds of small islands which vary in terms of development and size. Many of the islands are completely uninhabited. For those who enjoy being near to the ocean, Denmark offers the perfect holiday experience, with water in sight nearly everywhere you go.

Denmark is the ideal location for a holiday that includes the beach - and as the number of holiday homes for rent along the coastlines is very large, you will have a great many options for finding the perfect Denmark holiday retreat. A cottage at the shore gives you not just the beach but, you will have easy access to great selection of attractions that are available on Jutland as well. It really doesn't matter where you stay - the range of opportunities will always be vast.

Denmark's small size is one of it's most appealing features as, you will surely come to appreciate the country's beautiful nature. Because of its fairly small size as a nation, you can move freely from one type of beautiful landscape to the next quickly and easily. As you travel from inland to shore you witness the near seamless transition from lush forest to sandy dunes. The views along the North Sea may be the most breathtaking, but you will not be disappointed by the landscape regardless of what part of the country you are visiting.

Of the islands off of Jutland Zealand is the largest - not to be confused with New Zealand! Probably the most well known of Denmark's cities is it's capital, Copenhagen. If you are looking for a bit of big city life while visiting Denmark, then you will want to visit Copenhagen. The unexpected number of choices is astounding, and there is truly something for everyone among all the various activities on offer. Of course, while you're by the coast, be sure to introduce yourself to Denmark's very own mermaid! Today's Danish government is a democracy but at one time Danish kings ruled the country (the borders of which has varied considerably) from Copenhagen.

There is no more Danish royal rule, but their vision is still evident, with breathtaking castles still welcoming visitors and reminding them of times past. The current Queen, Margrethe II is a descendent of House of Glcksborg and resides in Copenhagen at the beautiful Amalienborg Palace. You shouldn't miss a trip to see the breath taking crown jewels which are housed at Rosenborg Palace, - the jewels are spectacular indeed and offer a glimpse into the Denmark of the past.

Bornholm, located in the Baltic Sea, is another of Denmark's islands which is worth visiting. The terrain here contrasts dramatically with that seen throughout the rest of Denmark. Bornholm is the only part of Denmark where you can experience the drama of steep cliffs and awe inspiring rocks holding guard against the sea. The rocky areas are deceiving though because Bornholm is also home to some of the area's best beaches for families. Bornholm's long stood as one of Denmark's more popular locations, and for beach vacations and idyllic landscapes, this is an ideal place to stay. It doesn't matter what type of vacation you prefer, whether a city break of a countryside escape, your Danish holiday will be the perfect escape.
