The Aura, An Introduction to the Human Energy Field

The Aura, also called the Human Energy Field (HEF), is the electromagnetic energy that surrounds our bodies. It is oval, like an egg, and goes out 3 to 4 feet beyond our physical bodies.

The power that produces our aura begins from both inside and outside our bodies. From the inside, it's formed through the vibration of our cells which make a deep stream of electromagetic power that radiates outwards. Externally, the cosmos creates vibrations that is stored by our bodies. The place where our aura intersects the universal power is not inactive but in a regular flow of give and take. When the aura is powerful, our physical, mental and spiritual physical condition is strong. When the aura is sick or broken, our health is reduced.

Chakras

The interaction between our auras as well as the universal energy is also effected by our chakras.

The 7 main chakras:

  • Root – tail of spine

  • Sacral – Tan T'ien

  • Solar Plexus – navel

  • Heart – heart

  • Throat – throat/neck

  • Third Eye – middle of forehead

  • Crown – top of head

Chakras are defined as 'spinning wheels' As chakras spin, they also produce energy that interacts directly with our auras. When we are in good physical shape, our chakras turn on their own, creating an abundant supply of energy. When we aren't fit, our chakras decelerate, no longer feeding energy to ourselves. In extreme cases, they will rotate backwards and really drain the energy from us.

History

People have been seeing auras throughout history. Throughout the sixteenth century, the aura was referred to as the astral body. In the eighteenth century, Anton Mesmer, although he didn't discover hypnotism like some have printed, he did build a theory of animal magnetism and carried out a variety of scientific experiments to try and make out this phenomenon. He also believed in a fluid-like, physic ether that reacted with the movements of our astral bodies.

Then, early in the 20th century, Dr. Walter Kilner from St Thomas’ Hospital in London invented a machine to view auras. He used ultraviolet light to illuminate a faint haze around the body. His experiments to utilise the machine to diagnose illness was cut short because of the start of World War I.

Edgar Cayce, who is considered by many to be the "father of holistic medicine," was also capable of seeing auras and he used this skill when he worked with his clients. He learned to interpret their structure, size and color. He spent what turned out to be the final year of his life writing the definitive reference book about auras along with his friend Thomas Sugrue. Unfortunately, Cayce died before the manuscript could be finished. Rather than an extensive reference book, a twenty page pamplet was published entitled Auras: An Essay on the Meaning of Colors. Happily, the outstanding data in that pamphet makes up for it's diminutive size. It remains a preferred reference guide to the present day.

Seeing Auras

Having the ability to see and feel auras is a tool used by energy healers. By way of example, I had a patient who was suffering from a constant cough. She had gone to a doctor, had an x-ray, but they could not discover the cause of the cough. She then came to me for a Reiki session. Around 15 minutes into the healing session, I discovered that her aura had a big opening in it, directly above her chest. I used Reiki to fix the opening in her aura and from then on, her cough was no more.

It's not challenging to learn to see auras. With a little training, you will be able to rapidly see the faint, blue-gray layer that radiates outward about ˝ inch off of our bodies. Then, as you practice and build up your abilities, you will be able to see the aura extending 3-4 feet away from the body.
