If you are seeking the ideal dragon figurine, you will be faced with an overwhelming duty given the options that are out on the shelves. These fantasy figurines come in an abundance of forms, hues, finishes, and dimensions, and most collectors have a wide range of selections. Sure when a collector buys one for him or herself, at least they know their preference, but if you would like to buy them a gift, how do you make a choice?Several people tend to prefer pewter dragon miniatures, while others like the bright ones, or even just plain bronze finishes. This difficulty of choice seems to be the consensus among numerous shop keepers who have years of experience selling fantasy collectibles as gift items.

Some psychological theories maintain that people tend to want a figure that reflects their totem animal's mannerisms, however, this is not consistently the case. Natives in most cultures name their offspring after favorite animals, with the intention that the child would reflect the animal’s behaviors and strengths upon adulthood. Indigenous people have traditionally decorated their bodies with feathers or skins to liken themselves to their namesake animal spirit and thus be in sympathy with their desired qualities.

However with the person you are shopping for, it may not be as simple as modeling your gift choice off a favorite animal. When in doubt, dragons continuously seem to be a fine decision based on their prominence in media, video games, and action figures.

To select a dragon figure there are some tips or guidelines one could follow while choosing an esteemed gift:

1. D & D players - If playing elves and dwarfs in a D & D game isn't really your thing you don't need to give up just yet. There are other types of role-playing games, such as werewolf and vampire characters, science fiction first person shooter, and even the new MMORPG games to base your dragon decision from. There is enough choice in the marketplace to offer something for everybody.. You simply have to decide which sort of finish suits you best, and it seems pewter is a popular finish for people who fall into this RPG category. The reason for this is the medieval feel that pewter figurines have, and obviously RPG players are especially fond of that era.

2. Anime fans tend to be attracted to the bright colorful figures that remind them of or actually represent their favorite characters. These collectors will love colorful metallic-finish statues.

3. Most of the men I know are fond of practical items and there is no lack of functional dragon collectibles such as chalices and letter openers. For men dragons are powerful images and also remind them of their childhood dreams.

4. Science fiction lovers tend to enjoy flashing LED figurines. This can give the illusion of a futuristic façade. I once saw a Cyberpunk dragon that had wires and circuitry coming out of its exposed skull--keep an eye out for this unique piece.

By using the referenced guidelines you are well on your way to choosing the perfect fantasy statue for your next gift giving occasion.
