Micheal Jackson’s “This is it” premiered across the world yesterday as fans of the music legend trooped out in their hundreds to watch video of the final rehearsals and last days of the entertainment King before he died on June 25th this year.

However despite the media hype and the entertainment filled video which “This is it” holds, some diehard fans who constantly waited outside his rehearsal venue at Los Angeles before his death have cried foul in the production and images of Micheal Jackson portrayed in the video, claiming that there was too much technical interference in Michael’s appearance because the real Micheal was much more frail and pale than the one shown in the new video. The enraged fans therefore renamed the title as “This is not it”.

They also claim that real lovers of Micheal should boycott the Premier as it was a way for Sony music and other members of his crew to enrich themselves, adding that Micheal would not have approved of the production of the video because he was a Perfectionist. Some others claim that though people should watch it but should do so with critical eyes.

Here in Nigeria, “This is it” premiered at the Silverbird Cinema Lagos, the sole cinema to premier it in Nigeria amidst the other fifteen cinemas to premier it across the world. As expected the crowd was overwhelming as expectant viewers bought tickets with popcorn and drinks in hand to see the video which will be shown for only two weeks.

In an emotional two hours video, some of the fans who viewed the film described it as impressive and interesting. While some others described Micheal Jackson as a Master of his game giving attention to details, little wonder he’s been referred to as “The King of Pop”.

At Los Angeles, the City stood still on Tuesday as hundreds of fans gathered to watch the magical feeling of Michael’s behind the scene footage. Also present to grace the red carpet alongside M.J’s five brothers were Actor Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton and Kathie Perry. Michael’s mother and three kids also saw the screening of the video in a private session at the Sony Studios.

Head of his production crew says it is a tremendous responsibility to carry on M.J’s legacy in what is tagged to have been the world’s greatest music concert ever. The 2 hours concert rehearsal movie was curled from 80 hours of his concert tour, rehearsals and videos.

The question now is who do we believe, is it the diehard fans who says; boycott it, it’s not the real Micheal Jackson, “This is not it” or the production crew that have worked tirelessly to put together the video?

In my own opinion I think actually going out to see the video will really prove if “This is it” or “This is not it” or how else can One really find out if “this is it”? Somebody should please tell me.
