Article marketing provides many benefits to internet marketers. One of the principle benefits of article marketing is generating back links to your site. It is widely recognized that building back links is one of the best ways of improving "organic traffic" from search engines. Article directories, blogs, forums and other websites where you can submit your articles to typically have very high page ranks with the search engines which is one important factor in lending credibility to your website. High ranking websites are often called "authority sites", and by having links to these websites also increases the relative importance of your website to the search engine index. Article directories usually receive very high volumes of traffic purely by virtue of the sheer volume of content they contain. Many of the larger directories have literally millions of articles on a huge range of subjects. Whilst article marketing is initially labor intensive, the real benefit is the volumes of free traffic that can literally last for years as they remain indexed in search engines, something that few other forms of internet marketing can deliver.

Make sure that you article is highly informative so your readers will not just skim through it but read it from top to bottom. Also, for search engine purposes, make sure that you include the keywords that you researched within your articles. As a rule of thumb, use only one keyword per article.

It is probably best to concentrate on submitting your articles regularly to these top directories. With good quality articles on sites such as EzineArticles, you will be able to qualify as an Expert Author which has its privileges when it comes to listing your articles. Search engines such as Google also like articles. If you look through the listings when you search on Google, you'll quite often see articles listed alongside webpages. That's because Google will search sites like EzineArticles.com and list relevant articles in the results. You'll mostly see articles appearing for so called longer tail and less competitive keyword searches.
