Menorca is a perfect choice for the perfect family holiday, especially if you are looking for that something with a little bit of quality or for something a little bit special. Just a short flight from the UK, Menorca is as easy to access as it is to fall in love with.

It's not until you actually go to Menorca that you really appreciate why so many people return time after time. Quieter, more stylish and less excited than her Balearic neighbours Ibiza and Mallorca, Menorca has worked hard to control sympathetic development and retained her poise and mature Spanish elegance. Originally a British territory, it was the island's anti Nationalist stance in the Spanish Civil War that saw Franco 'punish' the island by banning all expansion work. Now with a small permanent population of just 100,000 and with an architecture and heritage spared from profit-seeking developers, it's the island's authentic charm and original ambiance that makes it such an alluring and classy destination. A stay on Menorca reflects as much of its past as its modern stylish future .

Menorca is an island with much natural beauty. With 216km of coastline boasting numerous coastal coves, ravines and more beaches than all the other Balearic Islands combined (over 100), Menorca can perhaps claim to be the most beautiful island in the Mediterranean. Discover the coastline at Cala d'Algaiarens or relax on the beach at Punta Prima. On Menorca the choices are endless.

Families are certain to enjoy their stay on Menorca. If you're looking for wildlife and plenty of healthy outdoor activities then you're definitely in the right place. If however your holiday memories are likey to be found in bars and nightclubs, then perhaps you should look elsewhere. Declared a Biosphere Reserve in 1993 by UNESCO, Menorca's countryside is full of wildlife, flora and fauna. There are thick forests, deep gorges and lush green countryside to enjoy, while ancient meadows surrounded by old stone walls and fragile wooden gates burst with colourful wild flowers, watched on by aged olive groves and orchards heavy with fruit. Take your time exploring the island on foot, hire bikes or join one of the many horse riding treks inland or along the coast.

For something a little more active try Los Delfines Aquapark on the west of the island on the outskirts of Ciutadella. It's the pick of the island's waterparks with a giant toboggan, kids' water chutes and a jacuzzi. Dine in the seafood restaurant or treat the kids in the pizzeria. Head to Fornells for excellent water sports where boats, windsurfers and waterskiers all enjoy the impressive bay.

Luxurious Menorca is one way to describe a typical holiday there.
Holidays in this most beautiful of Mediterranean islands come in various sizes, levels and to suit tight budgets or deep pockets. Where Menorca really comes into its own is in the luxury family holiday market, especially luxury family villas. In Majorca there's no shortage of luxury villa options all over the island. Typically modern, light, cool and with a private swimming pool, Menorca villas really do offer the time and space that you and your family need to make the most of your holiday together.
