The Chicago Blackhawks have dominated the NHL wagering action all series long and its little surprise that this team is now playing in the Stanley Cup wagering finals. During the NHL playoff wagering no team has been as consistent or as prominent as the Hawks and a major reason for that has been the outstanding play of team captain Jonathan Toews. But Toews was nowhere to be found in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup odds action.

If the Hawks want to wrap up their first Stanley Cup wagering title in decades, they need a lot more out Toews than they got in the game 1 of the most crucial series in hockey wagering.

Toews has been simply outstanding through the Western Conference Finals wagering action. Through the previous 16 hockey betting games in the NHL playoff odds action leading up to the Stanley Cup wagering finals he had scored 26 points (7 goals, 19 assists). No one was playing on his level and it seemed as if the greater the game, the greater he played in the NHL playoff wagering thus far.

But he would likely like to forget Game 1 of the Stanley Cup odds action. He failed to score a point for the first time in 13 playoff hockey betting games, snapping his team record. It was his worst performance in the NHL playoff betting this year. He was virtual non factor with just one shot on goal and no real meaningful contribution in his team's 6-5 victory.

The Flyers may end up regretting Game 1 as they truly let the game get away. Chicago's top line of Jonathaw Toews, Patrick Kane and Dustin Byfuglien were awful as they went a combined minus-9 in the game. The Flyers didn't make a solitary penalty and they still lost. Chicago recognize that they likely stole a game they shouldn't have won. That won't bode well for the Flyers who were underdogs to start with. If the underdog doesn't win a game they should, they almost never win the NHL wagering series. The Blackhawks proved they can win when they didn't have a solitary power play and without their top line doing anything. They played an obviously better game on Monday in Game 2 when they defeated the Flyers 2-1.
But the good news for Chicago fans is that in spite of Toews having an off night the team was still somehow able to get the Stanley Cup wagering win at home. Further, the team exploded for a mind-blowing 6 goals. If you were to tell a Blackhawks fan beforehand that the team would score 6 goals without a single assist or goal by Toews they would have liked their team's chances in the NHL wagering odds. Chicago's attack thrived in spite of a small amount of contribution from Toews and that's a great sign.

Stanley Cup wagering veteran Marion Hossa stepped up big time and was critical to the win. But there's no question that the Hawks will want more from Toews if they want to finish this Stanley Cup wagering series on their own terms.
