Speer Reloading Manual One of My Greatest Finds

I am Bruce Mackay and I am promoting hunting and reloading products like the Speer Reloading Manual. The Speer reloading Manual has been on my reloading bench since I started twenty five years ago or more. Depending on how old I think I am. This was my first manual and I do not have the original but have recently replaced it because lending them out does not always work out. I do not think of it as much of a loss since the new one is superior anyway.

There is nothing like being up to date. I really want to work out some new loads for my seven MM and the old manual did not contain the new powders. The best load I found way back was for my deer rifle of the day. I remember now it took a lot of trying but it was a Speer reload in .257 caliber and it used the PSPBT that’s pointed soft point boat tail. The coefficient rating of this round is about 560 or so which is very good. I found it in the Speer reloading manual; I also used the same round for my seven MM and i still do.

I have altered many powder loads as my rifle aged and hunting stile changed. But that load is still great and has helped obtain me a lot of moose and deer. I use other loads and manuals for this bullet but some things just work.

I discover now hunting elk in grizzly country I am thinking of opting for a heavier round for close range quick kills just because it may calm my nerves while hunting in this area. Is there a good way of saying I am getting chicken in my mature age. I will not go into that! I am thinking max bullet weight in a grand slam round with a bit of a hot load. You know this may be a bad idea because giving up the accuracy could cause the bad shot and that causes difficulty. I better check the Speer reloading manual.

I have found after all these years that the preferential system of finding the best load for any situation is to have the most info you can get as in lots of different manuals. This gives you more scope on different situations and how to cope with. Orignally I used a stock Ruger with four power scope now for example I now use a semi bull Barrel Remington rifle in seven MM with a Leopold fifty millimeter scope in a variable four to twelve power.

There is a fine reason for all the different things I do now. I find I need the power and quality of Leopold's light gathering to make up for bad vision. Counting the tines on your animal has become a part of hunting. Then the gun weight is something I always liked to steady me and I was always in good enough shape carrying the weight never bothered me.
