Sorting the Mail and Eliminate Junk

Did you know that 80 % of the mail that we receive will end up in the trash can
because it is unsolicited mail, otherwise known as JUNK?

It can get a hold of our lives because we tend to think we need to read it all
because there might be something we will need. Chances are....there isn't. If we haven't asked to receive it, we don't need it!

Before we start: Send letters to each of these places and stop the junk mail from coming. This is called "opt-out", you are telling these people that you aren't interested in knowing about their product or business.

Only instead of writing each place individually, you are having them take your name off of these lists and telling them all at the same time. Sounds great doesn't it? It really doesn't take that long and the benifits are enormous!

True, it takes about 90 days for this to catch up and go into effect, but it is worth it.

Getting off of a MAILING LIST: Please send a postcard or letter that includes your name, home address, and signature to:

Mail Preference Service
Direct Marketing Association
PO Box 643
Carmel, NY 10512

Getting of of Telemarketing Lists:

Please send a postcard or letter that includes your name, home address, and
signature to:

Telephone Preference Service
Direct Marketing Association
PO Box 1559
Carmel, NY 10512

Getting off of E-Mail Lists:

Go to http://www.dmaconsumers.org/consumers/
optoutform_emps.shtml and fill in the
necessary information.

Now let's get rid of all of this time consuming paper clutter in six easy steps:

1. Sort your mail next to the garbage can. Anything that is junk belongs below
your hand (in the trash).

2. Bills go in one pile and mark on your calendar the date it is due and the amount.

3. Things to be dealt with in pile two; do this by the end of the day or set up an hour once a week (Thursday 1:00 handle the paper work file..pay bills..make calls)

4. File it...if it is something that needs to be kept, file it immediately. Don't
take the chance of losing it.

5. Things I want to read....keep this for one week only. If you haven't read it by that time, your not going to, when your paper work hour arrives, throw it out.

6. Keep all of your mail in one place (a drawer, manila folder) if it's organized
you won't loose it.

Junk mail can be very annoying as well as time consuming, we all know that.

The amount of wasted money in stamps and envelopes alone could save a company thousands of dollars, but it is advertising that every company needs to make their business grow and this same company, by sending all of the junk
mail can also earn profits in the thousands.

This is progress and gives people the right to earn a living, no matter how aggravating it is to the consumer.

However, if you don't want this mail or the telephone calls, following these steps will help you to eliminate a large portion of junk mail.
