Sibling Memories

My sister has always been more creative that me. She just really like to scrapbook, make cards, emboss all those crafty things. I sometimes feel really bad that she is so good at all that stuff and I am not. BUT I am totally excited because I figured out the perfect gift for her Birthday. (Here is another place where she usually wins and I’m tired of it!) So for her b-day I am going to make a book of memories for her. It will be cool because I found this neat tool that binds books and has software that kinda dummy proofs the way to make them look really crafty and cute. (This is something I need. Ask me how to change a tire, I am so there. The correct spelling of a word? I’m your girl but all that creative stuff is has never been my bag, you know?)

Anyway I think this year I will totally win the best birthday present award! I was in church the other day and I kept hearing some of the women talking about this great book. I wanted to know what the title was because they were talking about how amazing it was. It seemed like they kept arguing about whose story was better. So, whatever, I was shamelessly eavesdropping. (Yeah, I know I shouldn’t do that but, hey, it was interesting!) Ugh so after ignoring the lesson and shamelessly listening in for, like, 10 minutes, I figured out they were talking about this machine called Your Story. It binds books, laminates and even has templates to help you with cute ideas and stuff

My sister is going to freak out when she sees that I, the non-scrapbooking younger sister, actually put together a book of our lives growing up. Ok so I DID choose to feature all activities where I shine and my lovely big sis isn’t quite up to par. Is that mean of me? She is master of all things crafty and cute that means I should be totally fine highlighting the things I am good at, while making a scrapbook to commemorate her birthday! So pictures of us running a half-marathon (ok, she is bent over in pain and red in the face because she’s not in great shape like me but then she can make a super great lemon meringue pie and I ban barely boil water.) Pictures of the family backpacking trip (big sis is the one who is all swollen after I accidentally led her into that patch of poison ivy. I swear I didn’t know that her body would react quite that fiercely!) Then, my personal fav, is the one of my sis with her hands in the air shrieking in horror while I pull a lizard off her foot. Honestly, it’s a lizard, sis! Like it’s gonna hurt anyone. (So, yeah, I put it on her back, actually, and she didn’t even notice it until it got down to her foot!)

Anyway, the book looks really amazing! It was easy to do. The your story machine helped me to lay it all out on my computer and everything. It even came with some book covers for me and, of course, I asked my sis where to get the best paper and she directed me to a site I like (http://scrapbookingpaper.net/blog/). She is going to be so surprised!! I laminated the pages, too, using the same your story machine because I fully intend to let all the nieces and nephews see how cool Aunt Beth is at lots of things and sometimes those kids have grubby fingers and toes.
