For busy work at home mums, prioritising some time to try to to meditation, pilates, yoga, relaxation techniques or mind training is usually something that we merely cannot afford to do every day. Have you thought of doing a number of these exercises on a daily basis but just for a FEW MINUTES? You would be surprised at the new flow of energy and mind power that can result from a very brief session of self-awareness, meditation, relaxation or mind coaching.

The life of work at home mums is filled with schedules, stress, noise, demands, multi-tasking, physical work, travel and looking after others. How often do you really channel back into yourself, sense your body and mind, and produce new energy which comes out from within? Personally, the only way I used to become aware of my body was when it was aching, and creating new energy meant drinking another coffee! I have however been trialling various techniques and have discovered that not only I am able to employ some strategies in only a few minutes} each day, but they create instant results in reducing stress, increasing my energy levels, focusing my mind, empowering my spirit, and improving my mood. That sounds good doesn't it?

I would like to introduce the varied techniques that I completely recommend for work at home mums. Most importantly, the techniques I will discuss can be completed in brief sessions. Naturally, if you actually enjoy them and have the desire of mastering them, there is plenty to learn and develop in every of those. I'll cover the first technique in this article.

A Few Minutes For Your Body and Mind Series: Technique One: Yoga Breathing.

Yoga breathing is best done lying down with your hands resting a little apart just underneath your diaphragm, however it can also be done sitting down with a straight spine, legs crossed, shoulders relaxed and hands resting on your knees, facing up.

Step One: Abdominal breathing: Watch your natural breath pay attention to how your abdomen moves in and out along with your breath. Then start to expand, stretch and extend the movement with each inhalation and exhalation. Fill and empty your abdomen completely with every breath, while not straining. For 10 breaths, do not breathe into your chest, limit the movement to the abdomen, and then take a few seconds rest.

Step Two: Thoracic (chest) breathing: Observe once again your natural breath however this time see how your chest is moving. Then start to deepen, stretch and extend the movement. Satiate your lungs completely on inhalation, then breathe out and let your lungs collapse fully, sinking to the lowest point. For 10 breaths, {keep the abdomen still, and move only the chest|breath only into your chest, and keep your abdomen still.

Step 3: Full yogic breathing: Merge steps 1 and 2 within the one breath as follow: Inhale deeply into your abdomen, and then continue inhaling up and expanding to fill the chest. Hold it for a second or so. Then breathe out first from the top of the chest down, releasing the air out of the chest first, then your abdomen, moving the air down and out until completely empty. Repeat this abdomen-to-chest inhalation and chest-to-abdomen exhalation, like a rolling motion, for twenty breaths. I prefer to lay there for a short moment afterwards, just returning to my normal yet deepened breath and enjoying my relaxed mind and body.

I hope you can benefit from this straightforward yet rejuvenating breathing technique as much as I do. It is perfect for work at home mums: it requires no special equipment and takes only a few minutes! Stay tuned for my future articles in this series with more quick and easy body and mind renewing methods.
