The Kansas City Royals did get some good news on Wednesday as they were awarded the 2012 All-Star match, even though they have not had much success in baseball probabilities over the past couple of decades.

The Royals won the World Series back in 1985 vs the baseball gambling probabilities but they have not made the playoffs since.

Kansas City isn't liked by baseball probabilities very often as the team is usually in last place. Major League Baseball doesn't have a salary cap and the major money clubs win whereas the smaller market clubs lose. It is a depressing circumstance for clubs like Kansas City and Pittsburgh but that is how baseball operates.

The Royals were given a chance as they will host the 2012 All-Star match. Kauffman Stadium would host the match, announced commissioner Bud Selig. The Royals were pretty much assured the match a few years ago since they made voters in Jackson County approve a sales tax increase to finance improvements at Kauffman Stadium and Arrowhead Stadium which hosts the Chiefs. Selig also said that local charities would benefit by $4 million or more and that the income from the match will amount to $70 million to Kansas City.

Kansas City is losing once more this season vs the baseball probabilities. They have missed the post-season for 24 straight years and they will lose out again this year. Only the Washington Nationals who used to be the Montreal Expos have gone longer without making the playoffs. Baseball in Kansas City used to be interesting and the Kansas City Royals used to be a frequent contender but that was practically 25 years ago. The Royals are now regularly excluded from the contest in the American League Central prior to the All-Star break. That will be the situation again this season as the Kansas City Royals are 1 of the worst clubs in the league vs the baseball gambling probabilities.

The Royals getting the 2012 All-Star match was a disappointment to the Boston Red Sox as they were wanting that Fenway Park would get the match since 2012 will be the 100th anniversary of the stadium. The Boston Red Sox will continue to win vs baseball gambling probabilities whether or not they get the match or not, and they have a ton of money. A team like Kansas City requires all the aid they can get which is 1 reason Major League Baseball offered them the All-Star Game. And besides that, Boston had hosted the match as recently as 1999, when there was a unforgettable tribute to Ted Williams.

This will be the team's 2nd All-Star Game, who hosted the 44th match back in 1973, and the third for the city. Kansas City was also host to the first of 2 1960 All-Star Games, hosted by the Athletics at old Municipal Stadium. Selig also noted that All-Star matches aid clubs sell tickets during the normal season, since season-ticket holders have access to buy tickets to the Classic.

This year's All-Star match is scheduled for Anaheim, and the 2011 match will be located in Phoenix.
