Andy Roddick made big news a year ago with his epic loss to Roger Federer in the final at Wimbledon but his results won't be duplicated this year as he lost in the 4th round against the sports book tennis betting probabilities.

Yen-Hsun Lu, who is the 82nd ranked player in the world, defeated Roddick in what might be called a sports book betting shocker. Lu is a Taiwanese player who hadn't won a competition at the All England Club the previous four years.

Sportsbook probabilities heavily liked Roddick in this competition but as he has throughout his career, Roddick let everybody down. In a competition that lasted more than four and a half hours he lost 4-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-7, 9-7. Lu won the 5th set by breaking Roddick for the sole time in the competition. Lu wasn't supposed to even provide a challenge to Roddick. Lu made it to the 4th round this year and upset the heavily liked Roddick against sports book probabilities after he lost in the first round at Wimbledon four consecutive times. He is the first Asian man to achieve the quarterfinals since Shuzo Matsuoka of Japan in 1995. The competition between Roddick and Lu was all about serve. Roddick had 38 aces while Lu had 22. Lu was only 2-10 before Monday against players ranked in the Top-10 on the planet. The previous 3 times he had played Roddick, Lu had lost in consecutive sets.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, the two sports book faves at Wimbledon on the men's side, made it to the quarterfinals with consecutive set wins. Federer defeated Jurgen Melzer while Nadal won in consecutive sets against Paul-Henri Mathieu.

Lu played Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals and saw his results end there. The 3rd-seeded Djokovic lost just 12 points in 13 service competitions Wednesday and never played a break point. Djokovic matched his biggest showing at Wimbledon. Three years ago he also attained the semifinals. Djokovic will pass Federer in the rankings next week.

The champ of that competition would then get Tomas Berdych, who won his quarterfinal competition against Roger Federer on Wednesday. It was an additional big upset at Wimbledon. Berdych had never moved on past the Round of 16 at a serious tournament before this year.

On the other side of the bracket it was Rafael Nadal facing Robin Soderling. This was the first time that Soderling has attained the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Nadal took that competition by eliminating Robin Soderling in four sets. Nadal reclaimed the No. 1 ranking not too long ago. It had been a rematch of the final at this year's French Open, which Nadal also received.

It was 4th-seeded Andy Murray facing 10th seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the other quarterfinal competition. Murray has made the quarterfinals for the 3rd consecutive year. He is playing much better than any person thus far as he is the only player on the men's side who has not lost a set and his probabilities at the sports book continue to drop. Murray picked up that competition, eliminating Tsonga and setting himself up for a seminfinal bout against Nadal.
