Rising cost of pre school

The cost pre schools in Britain has reached record levels, with working parents paying up to £7,000 a year for one kid.

For a lot of people situated within the depths of the recession the balance relating to employment and the costs of pre schools becomes highlighted and puts parents under far more financial strain.

The benefits for leaving a infant in nursery school schooling are important and is something that is particularly put at risk during these difficult times.

The average full-time day nursery place for an child aged two is more than £110 a week or more than £5,700 a year, according to Daycare Trust, which campaigns for more reasonably priced kid care places. The "geographical lottery" means that families in central London fare worst.
They sacrifice £135 a week on a daycare place - more than £7,000 a year - or £110 a week for a childminder. Those living in the North East spend the least on a full-time day nursery place - £91 a week - while those in the South East fork out £121, in the West Midlands £101, in the North West £97 and in Yorks and Humberside £102.

Its is recognised the importance of the child care tax credit, which helps eligible moms with costs of up to £70 a week for one toddler and £105 for two or more. But further is needed to be done to tell moms about the credit and make progress the current ceilings, because many families found the charge of child care "simply beyond their reach".

More people require to understand about the child care tax credit and how it can aid them with baby care costs. More than three times as many families are getting help with kid care costs than before but many more could get help. It is critical that parents on lower incomes can afford the price of a typical daycare which clearly now exceeds the child care tax credit.

The study also highlights that employers should do more to help working parents. At a time when employment is low in many parts of the country, it is in the best business interests of employers to be considerate in recruiting and retaining the right staff.

The findings follow a study that showed that the average salary for a daily nanny has risen by almost 50 per cent. Nannies in central London earn an average salary of £22,000.

Harriet Harman, chairman of the Child Care Commission, recommended last week that new mothers receive a state income for the first three years of a preschooler's life to reduce the burden of toddler care costs. She also wanted tax relief of up to £2,000 on preschooler care expense for families, worth around £440 a year.
