Coming in a range of designs, materials and functions, they can be used practically anywhere.

The most common type bought today is the sofa bean bag; which come in anything from one seat, to huge affairs comfortable for up to four or five. Depending on what size and material you go for; these can be more than affordable with the range starting from as at little of a hundred dollars.

Such is the comfort that bean bags bring; many buyers soon resort to using them as another place to sleep. However, if you really want t use yours as a semi permanent bed; there are manufacturers now creating bean bags that fully convert to a double bed in next to no time.

There are many innovations in the world of bean bags though they're not all modern and futuristic designs. Recognizing that people not always want a shapeless form in their living area; more traditional looking furniture is available. Whilst still retaining al the comfort you would expect, customers can now choose from a range of rigid bean chairs that have stability and form.

Made with a fixed structure in mind; these offer excellent support and can be useful for those with lower back problems; faltering strength; kids or the elderly.

Bean bags are great to take outdoors too; whether on the terrace in your yard; at the beach or around the pool. Made from materials that are easy to clean and weather well, these can be so much easier to maintain than regular outdoor furniture.

Being easy to store and, with a degree in engineering not needed to put them up and down, they are great to have around to enjoy the summer months.

If you are after something a little unique, one of the newer generations of 'slab' type bean bags is worthy of your time. As the name suggests; these bean bags are immense and through that size; can be changed to suit practically any need whether indoors or out.

There are many types that appeal to children too; whether from their favorite cartoon; TV show or computer game character.

Indeed, many chairs are now available which have been specifically designed for the hardcore gamer; providing great support alongside great comfort to help you onto the next level.

When considering ban bags; many of us have a preconceived idea of a small cube footrest or a tired looking flattened dome squashed up against the room of an eighties teenager. This is far from the case now however; as designers increasingly aim to put their own spin and style onto them. Whether you go for a stylish leather double sofa; or a resilient corduroy affair for the kids to use to destructions your choice is far limited.

You can do so much with bean bags, throw them in the air, kick them with your feet, hit them with your head, the uses are endless. I got my first bean bag for Christmas when I was about 7 and was so puzzled what would it do? Does it make noise? Why do I want a square bag? I remember tossing it up and seeing if I could hit it on my knees.

When the weather was bad and no one else could go out and play I would sit on my grandparent's porch hitting it, throwing it and whatever else I could think of. I used to love to play the game where you threw the bean bag back and forth until the music stopped then whoever was left holding it sat down. We also played hopscotch with it.

What are the in the bean bags, what makes them work, how can they take hours of abuse? I am sure this is a question that we all ask when we hold a bean bag. A bean bag is full of beads, beans or corn and has fabric on the outside.
