Each year, the experts are touting the latest lists of common marriage issues. While top ten lists regularly appear, it seemed easier to focus on the top four issues that show up most. They should be fairly obvious once you see them. It should also be clear why these four issues deserve their places in the top four.

Naturally, money takes first place; it always does. More than any other problem, money seems to be the one people fight over the most. Very often, money issues are more about control, and can manifest in the preference for separate bank account. In some instances, one wants an individual account while the other is against it. Oddly enough, financial experts like to point out that you may actually fight less when you have access to your own supply of money. The problem arises with this when one spouse is making large purchases without discussing it. It is really essential to get approval before making such big buys. Another factor that affects marriage issues about money involves lack of communication about them. This woeful lack of financial accountability also leads to major debt problems in some households.

Now, it isn't likely that you're shocked that sex is a serious marriage issue. The primary reason mentioned was actually the lack of sexual intimacy in marriage. The available statistics list both men and women as ranking sex a high issue, with men representing the great number. Even so, the point was made that both want more sex on a regular basis. The other cause of sexual tension had to do with pornography use among men. By a large margin, men are visiting gentlemen's clubs and pornographic websites against the wishes of their wives. For those women who didn't know what their husbands were doing, but later found out, the issue became more humiliating.

The third place on the top four marriage issues was in-laws. It's unfortunate that one or both of the spouses have family that do cause difficulties in the marriage. Bad behavior by in-laws has been known to completely destroy marriages. According to figures, both women and men are guilty in this situation. In most cases, it is about the family trying to stay too involved in the couple's affairs. In other words, they're nosy. Ideally, the offending in-law should be told to back off the situation, but they often are not. The conflict is deepened as one spouse fails to protect the other.

The last of the marriage issues listed here is adultery. The figures on cheating are alarmingly large, meaning more people are cheating to spouses. Of course, men rank first here as well. This doesn't mean that women are trailing behind. This issue is related to number two. The reasons men cheat are connected to lack of sex. Women, on the other hand, claim it comes down to lack of emotional support. Either member may start looking for the missing piece beyond their marriage and then are eventually discovered.
