* What war would you have elected to fight in? Last 200 years?

R: Ok, let’s go back 200 years to 1808. Am I a native American fighting a war to save my way of life? Am I a white man trying to build a farm and raise a family on the edge of civilization? Or am I a black man dreaming to escape from slavery? A child toiling at very low wages in a factory or mine to enrich the pockets of the owners? Or a women struggling to raise a family without even the right to vote for another 100 plus years?

Or in 1857, am I in a wagon trail heading to California only to be attacked in Utah by Indians and Mormons dressed as Indians, then surrendering to those Mormons when they came under a flag of peace and dressed again as white men, only to be one of the 120 people massacred by them and our property (the reason for the attack) sold at auction? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Meadows_massacre

Or am I one of the 35 African American workers who were massacred in the 1887 Thibodauxville, LA labor strike? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thibodaux,_Louisiana

Or am I one of the 504 women and children aged 1 to 81 who were massacred by US forces at My Lai Village, Vietnam in March of 1968? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Lai_massacre
Note: While we can try to understand and even forgive the actors and actions in wars (like we have the German and Japanese people) and massacres (like we have the Mormons and US Forces), we should not forget that these historical events happened!

Need I judge the behavior of man and wars for the past 200, 2000, or even 2 million years when what is much more important to consider is what is to happen to the human race in the next 20, 200, 2000, and 2 million years!

My major concern is why do we keep having wars? Nagasaki and Hiroshima was where 100s of 1000s of people in each city were destroyed in an instant, and according to this Discovery Channel web page, the USA now has the sure capability of delivering to any spot on the earth via the W87 MX Missile an absolute destruction of everything within 4 miles of impact: http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/destroyed-in-seconds/destruction-scale/destruction-scale.html

So imagine for a moment and in that instant, everything in every direction for miles from where you currently are, being completely destroyed! And as we know from 9/11 it does not take a missile to deliver destruction to thousands of people, only an airplane filled with fuel or as in Oklahoma City, a truck filled with explosives.

* should have we dropped the atom bomb on nagasaki and hiroshima? or 250,000 american troops be killed to invade japan and win the war that way. you do not mention the lives the japanese brutally killed around the world.
R: The Japanese brutally killed only around the Pacific (and 6 people in Oregon with a balloon bomb) but not around the world and starting for the USA: in the Philippines and at Pearl Harbor. Hitler and Mussolini brutally killed around Europe, Russia, and Africa.

Fact: Over 50 million people lost their lives in the Second World War.

* because we left vietnam, 1 million plus cambodians where killed by vietnam after we left. it would have been more but the chinese told them to stop. your thoughts and what would you say to the cambodian families now?

R: If the USA had not left Vietnam, would there still not be a war going on there. What would have determined a success? The atomic bombing of North Vietnam cities or the continued escalation of more US troops until either action made it into a major third World War?

* My wife and i had a vacation in vietnam - still a communist, socialist, totalitarian society to the people. the city name change from saigon to ho chi minh city, ho chi minh buttons given to everyone to wear and the museums gives all the credit to their soldiers and nothing about the million plus killed in cambodia.

R: It is not a matter of supporting nuclear weapons or not as lots of people can build them using instructions off the Internet. It is the major consideration of how do we stop their use knowing they can be used in and out of war? After WWII we created the United Nations because of the realization that this new type of atomic weapon could easily be advanced to destroy the earth beyond the capability of supporting human live.

* should the usa soldiers (war) protect kuwait from iraq?

R: Is it the responsibility of just the USA to protect every country from every other country? That was to be the role of the United Nations.

* with your goal of writing about war, please include the usa success and where we would be without the values held by so many american's, including those who gave their lives for us. what other country has given so much to the people and their lives in the world?

R: In my article “Beauty Queen Terrorist”, I proposed this "Call To Action":

1. Rename the “United Nations Organization” to “United Free Nations” Organization.

2. Make the membership for nations wanting to join based upon a standard of human rights (freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of and from Religion, open elections, etc) that nation endorses within their nation and for all peoples.

3. Kick out those nations who will not subscribe to these principals of human rights.

4. Give this organization the power to make United Free Nations laws against terrorism, against drugs and drug running, against slavery, and against the rest of the human evil behaviors.

5. Give this organization the police force and power necessary to enforce these laws (combining all the individual free nation’s armies into this United Free Nations Police Force).

6. Give this organization a judicial branch (United Free Nations Court) to judge the merits and actions of the law makers and law enforcers.

* you seem concerned over the future of our kids. what will be the out come of us becoming socialist under obama? what socialists country is showing the usa the right way? does the past history show that democrats can spend the $1 trillion "wisely"?

R: According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist :

“Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and an egalitarian society characterized by equal opportunities for all individuals and a fair or egalitarian distribution of wealth”

Seems to me this defines how America (except for the egalitarian distribution of wealth) has already been run for the last few hundred years! While there has not been total ownership of production (except for the banks and the big 3 auto companies in the future :-), there has been private ownership of most products produced… under strict government guidance. Remember too public schools and public libraries are social institutions! As well as police forces, fire departments, public works, human services etc, etc, etc.

In my article, “Tax Land, Not Labor!” also published at: http://www.depositarticles.com/Article/Tax-Land--Not-Labor-/83257 I proclaimed that the government in this country is already doing and controlling too much production and at too high price (in taxation). I proposed that the only thing that the government should own and what is common to all of us, is the land. People would still own their private property build upon the land, however the government could collect taxes only on the value of the land. And no taxes on labor or interest earned by capital investments. If a government collects all or even part of the wages earned by your labor, that makes you a slave.

just some quick thoughts, sorry about any misspellings. i'm off to get ready for a merry christmas. be well - Mr. X

R: Have a good one!

P.S. I did not vote for Obama. I did vote for Ralph Nader as neither Democrats nor Republicans seem to be concerned about the future of the human race… only continuing a poorly operating status quo!
