Puffy Areolas...What Can I Do?

A decade ago I knew nothing about the male condition of puffy areolas}.

It was about seven years ago that I first really observed that some guys suffered with them when I decided to use my many years experience of keeping fit by qualifying as a Fitness Instructor. Since my twenties I had been operating my own business or been a self-employed salesman and therefore been used to working 60 hour weeks, for many years.

In spite of the workload and self-imposed pressure I had always found time to maintain my fitness, invariably by running, working out in Gyms or sometimes both.I reasoned, therefore, that I would be in a good position to assist and motivate middle-aged and older guys to attain fitness in the Gym.
My thinking was right as I have since motivated many busy men and women to first of all find the time to exercise regularly and also to train in an organised fashion, thus gaining greater fitness and a better quality of life.

As I stated above, I had just not been aware of guys' chest issues but in my role as a Fitness Instructor I now was. I thought at first that the individuals just lacked lean mass and had developed surplus fat but due to the fact that several of my clients told me about their somewhat tender and puffy areolas, I just had to increase my knowledge of this phenomenon of female-like breast growth in men.

I learnt that this problem of puffy areolas is one of the signs of gynecomastia, and is more commonly referred to as 'puffy nipples' and that men have suffered with it for literally millenia. There are, in existence, paintings and statues which depict that the Ancient Egyptians even had this problem.

While gynecomastia does indicate a build-up of glandular tissue all over the male breast, very often this excess tissue is situated just beneath the the nipple area. The effect is to cause the nipple area to assume a dome-like appearance which does not look at all manly and is an embarrassing situation for any man with the condition.

I first came upon the puffy areola problem with a gentleman in his sixties and soon after another aged 50 or so, so my conclusion was that this sort of condition was related to age. I quickly discovered that it wasn't! As soon as I had secured the confidence of the guys in the club I had one or two younger males wishing to speak to me about similar problems.
More Internet research showed that considerable numbers of young men aged 14 to 16 were writing in to Forums with the condition. They would have been better off to book in to see their doctor for a proper diagnosis but it appears that guys in the USA and the UK are as a rule more likely to book in with their physician as a last resort! Therefore, I always say to any man with these kind of chest issues, book in to see your doctor at the outset.

due to being] overweight or obese, they have something called pseudogynecomastia which is just an excess of fatty tissue across the breasts. When the client's doctor has confirmed that the problem is simply fat build-up then the individual can, by listening to his Fitness Instructor and giving it his best shot, lose this reasonably quickly. Gradually, the fat will be replaced with muscular tissue.

It must be said that if an individual really has puffy areolas, then he probably has gynecomastia, regardless of whether he is overweight or not. Young males generally grow out of it once their hormonal balance is settled, usually in two or three years.

Older guys must, however, undergo a thorough medical to get at the cause or causes. Here are the most common:

*Puberty, with the unbalancing that this gives rise to in a boys' hormonal equilibrium. Thankfully 93% of adolescents will see their problem go away within 3 years.

*{At the other end of the scale, one of the effects of ageing is a lowering of testosterone production leading to gynecomastia|Conversely, from middle age onwards, many males {suffer from|experience} a falling off of testosterone production which gives rise to gynecomastia|A lot of men seem to get gynecomastia from their 50's onwards due to a decrease in the production of testosterone}.

*Some prescription drugs, medicines, creams and ointments will change liver function and this can produce feminising effects.

*{In some younger men just consuming meat or milk from estrogen-treated livestock has been proven to trigger gynecomastia|In the last few years it has been found that meat or milk from estrogen-treated cattle, pigs etc. will trigger gynecomastia in younger males|Some boys and youths have developed gynecomastia simply by consuming milk or meat from animals treated with estrogen.

*Cannabis use over a period of time can also change the balance of androgen and estrogen.

*Surprisingly, many guys who regularly take anabolic steroids to develop their bodies notice themseves developing female-like breasts because the additional testosterone is changed into estrogen through the process of 'aromatization'.

*{Consuming excess alcohol for prolonged spells can also upset hormonal equilibrium and give rise to gynecomastia|Heavy alcohol consumption for prolonged spells will also upset hormonal balance and result in feminine-looking breast development|Males who lapse into the habit of drinking too much alcohol {stand a good chance of|may well find that they are} developing gynecomastia simply because the androgen/estrogen balance has been changed}.

*Testicular Tumours.

*Adrenal Carcinoma.

*People with hermaphroditism having male and female organs.

*Kleinfelter's Syndrome, an unusual condition where a man has an extra 'X' chromosome.

*Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, a name given to a number of disorders caused by various enzyme deficiencies.

Drugs could possibly be necessary to restore hormonal balance but a revised lifetyle, a healthy diet and a proper exercise schedule, will be not only useful but necessary in helping a man to build a proper man's chest and kiss goodbye to his breasts and puffy areolas.

There are a few different, natural methods available these days which I have looked at carefully before venturing to recommend one for you to consider. Cliff Manchaster, who developed the Chest Coach System, himself put up with puffy areolas for 16 years before curing himself and surprising his own physician by doing so. Specific exercises along with dietary, herbal and lifestyle guides form the basis of the program, which appears to have worked for many guys.

During this time I have inspired and trained many men to achieve vastly improved Cardio-vascular fitness and, more importantly to them, a stronger and more toned body. Lots of these men had puffy areolas usually associated with the dreaded 'man boobs'. The latter were, as I now know, due to either gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia, so all of this puts me in a unique position when helping men with all chest problems and giving advice on Lifestyle, Diet, Exercise and the ability to properly evaluate products designed to help with them.
