The printed circuit board also known as the PCB is the device that is mechanically used to support and electrically connect the electronic components using conductive pathways, the tracks or traces, etched from copper sheets laminated onto a non conductive substrate. These devices are also referred to as the printed wiring board that is PWB or the etched wiring board. The printed circuit board that is populated with the electronic components is a printed circuit assembly also known as the printed circuit board assembly. Most of the times you will find the printed circuit board are more expensive and can highly be reliable thus they require more layout effort and higher initial cost than either wire wrapped or the point to point constructed. These devices are much cheaper and also faster when it comes to high volume production. Much of the electronics industry's printed circuit board design, assembly, and quality control needs are set by standards that are published by the IPC organization.

PCB manufacturing Materials
The PCB manufacturing involves some major steps and materials that are necessary for you to come up with the device. The PCB manufacturer should have the conducting layers are typically made of the thin copper foil and the insulating layers dielectrics are typically laminated together. You will notice and find that the board is typically coated with a solder mask that is green in color. The other types of colors that are there are the blue and the red ones only. There are different dielectrics that can be chosen to provide different insulating values depending on the requirements of the circuit. The prepreg materials used in the printed circuit board industry are FR-2, FR-3 and 2 and the CEM-3-5. The density of a raw PCB is 2.15g/cm3.

Patterning/ etching
Most of the printed circuit boards are made by bonding a layer of copper over the entire substrate. Sometimes it is done on both sides in order to create a blank pcb after which the there is removal of the unwanted copper after applying a temporary mask that is done by etching and leaving only the desired copper traces. There are other PCBs that are made from adding traces to the bare substrate usually by the complex process of multiple electroplating steps. There are three methods that remove the copper and used for production of the printed circuit board.

These methods are one the silk screen printing which uses etch resistant inks to protect the copper foil. The etching removes the unwanted copper and makes the product look nice. The ink sometimes may be conductive, printed on a blank non conductive board this is an alternative. This latter technique is mostly used in the manufacture of hybrid circuits. The second one is the photoengraving which mostly uses the photo mask and the chemical etching to remove the copper foil from the substrate. It is usually prepared with a photoplotter from data that is produced computer aided software. The last one is the PCB milling which uses two or more axis mechanical milling system to mill away the copper foil. The printed circuit board milling machines functions the same way as the plotter.

There are many types of the aluminium base PCB that are there in the market today depending on what you want. There is the aluminium printed circuit board for led, the aluminium PCB for high power led, led street light, high thermal led and the aluminium printed circuit board for garden lamp.
