Most of you will have at least one Candida attack in your lifetime and I bet that it is something that you certainly do not want a repeat of! Preventing yeast infections from happening just takes a bit of common sense and awareness about how the fungus lives and what encourages it to spread. Here are the three basic rules when preventing yeast infections.

1. Do not suffocate your skin
As you are probably aware, yeast infections are caused by a fungus called Candida. This fungus loves places that are damp and where there is little fresh air. By wearing clothing that is either too tight or that does not breathe - like nylon, you are actually encouraging the fgungi to grow.

2. Cleanliness;
Preventing yeast infections can be as easy as making sure that you wash and dry yourself really well, paying close to those areas that need it - like your toes, under your armpits, your genital area and any other area that involves folds of skin that may otherwise get a rough wash.

Along the same lines of keeping clean and dry, make sure that you change out of wet, sweaty or dirty clothes quickly. If you use sanitary pads change them regularly.

3. Give the Good Bacteria a Hand
Antibacterial soaps, anti-fungal creams and long courses of antibiotics are notorious for wiping out just as many good bacteria as bad, leaving your immune system weakened and unable to keep preventing yeast infections.

4. Avoid Direct Contact
Candida is highly contagious so be aware of this when preventing yeast infections spreading from one person to another or even from one part of your body to another. Watch out for transfer from bathmats, cloths, clothing and towels.

No matter how careful you are there is always the possibility that you will get a Candida outbreak anyway. Girls in particular find preventing yeast infections hard work because their hormone levels change so often. In times like these it is always good to know that ether are variety of natural programs that are designed to gently restore the delicate balance of bacteria and get you back to full health quickly.
