Using pillow wedge acid reflux prevention for the discomfort of heartburn actually may be the prevention of Barrett's esophagus esophageal cancer. These are 10 tips to avoid stomach acid reflux:
1. Use an acid reflux pillow wedge.

If you suffer from heartburn acid reflux, a sleep wedge provides a gradual lift to the head and upper torso, and minimizes acid reflux possibilities. Every person has his or her own preference for a sleep wedge pillow style. Firm or soft – it makes no difference as long as it is comfortable to you.

2. Use a support mattress. One of the easiest ways to ensure you have a good sleep is to have a well-made mattress. There are many options: adjustable, firmness, pillow top, etc. An alternative to the acid reflux pillow wedge is a pillow wedge that fits under the top of the mattress.

3. Eat an early dinner. The benefit of eating early is the sooner you begin your dinner digestion, the sooner you may have an evening snack. Early snacks will have the proper amount of time needed to digest before bed time, thus preventing stomach acid reflux. Eating dinner early also burns off more calories and keeps your weight down.

4. Eat a small dinner. Smaller meals typically digest easier, minimizing any problems from acid reflux indigestion. A small dinner also prevents that tired feeling, and you will be alert and active for a late snack.

5. Avoid greasy food at dinner. Grease stimulates the body to produce bile for digestion. If you skip the big and greasy meal, you will sleep more soundly and avoid heartburn acid reflux.

6. Do not give in to a sweet tooth. Sugar right before bedtime can mess up your night of sleep. The sugar stimulates your body and makes it difficult to relax for sleep.

7. Limit your beverages. This goes against a few tips, but only a little. If you need warm tea or milk to fall asleep, drink in moderation. Drinking a lot of water, soda, or milk will fill your bladder up in a few hours. Sometimes after a trip to the bathroom, it may be difficult to fall back asleep. If you need to sip something, sip in small quantities.

8. Skip caffeine after dinner. If after a big dinner, you feel a little sluggish, do not drink soda or coffee – they are very acidic. Take a short, slow walk after dinner. It is good for digestion and will perk you up for about one hour. If the weather does not permit a walk outdoors, then walk in place while listening to music for about 15-20 minutes.

9. Avoid late night snacks. You might think your tummy is rumbling, but it really may be boredom. Especially if it is late at night. When you eat and then lay down, the digestion of the food can cause problems. A late night snack may cause you to get heartburn or acid reflux.

10. Take prescribed medicine. Remember to take any medications needed before bedtime. Many medicines are three or more times a day. If the last dose of medicine should be taken at bedtime, don't ever skip your medicine. The doctor prescribed it for a reason, so make sure to take it.
