After getting through, the candidate must complete a state approved program in pediatrics from a recognized nursing school. Further, he or she must pass the state licensing examination.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Education
Similar to the above pattern, psychiatric nurse practitioner must complete a master's degree in nursing, appear for NCLEX - RN exam, pass and become a registered nurse and then the candidate must take some certifications/training in psychiatry. The training and certification programs may be based on several rules as fixed by the nursing boards. Every state may have different standards for psychiatric nurse practitioner education.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Education
To become a neonatal nurse practitioner, one must take a bachelor's and master's degree in nursing. Some students work in clinics for a period of one or two years after bachelor's degree as registered nurses, and then apply for a master's degree program. During their graduate studies, students can choose specialization for neonatal nursing.
