When you decide that your company needs to grow and expand overseas you have to do it, but there are many things to keep in mind when you are moving your office from the UK to the United States. Although many things are the same there are some important differences that you should know. When you decide to do business in another country you have to learn how that country learns and operates in your type of business. The location of your office will be very important. Do research about where you think your product would do well in another country, for example don’t set your office up in the desert if you are looking to sell soil.

Also it is very important to bring all your business paperwork with you, although you may think that you don’t need it right now the chances are is that you will need it during the move or after you settle in. The best way to do this is when you are moving your office put all relevant, and even non-relevant paperwork in a folder or binder so that it can be easily accessed. It is also very important for you to photocopy your documents just in case something happens to the original copy. Also, it may be very helpful if you decide to make a list of all of the paperwork you have in that folder so when you need a specific paper you aren’t looking for it if you don’t have it. You don’t just need business information but make sure to have your birth certificates, any medical papers you may need, and even education certificates that may be from your college or high school. It may look silly now but these things are important when you are moving to the US.

When you are moving your office from the UK to the United States it is important to look into banking in your new country. Once you move you will need to open a bank account in the United States, make sure to do your research when you are picking a bank that can help fit you and your business best, there are different types of accounts for different types of businesses. You also need to decide whether or not you are going to close your current bank account in the other country. If you do make sure to do that before you move, it will be much easier for you to do in the long run. Also, keep in mind that you may need a credit card in the US, is your current credit card accepted in the US? Or do you have to cancel the other one? All of these things are important things to ask yourself before your move.
