We were recently introduced to the work of Jerry Jacobs, a San Francisco headquartered Interior Designer. Although I usually be inclined to more modern interiors, We were specifically taken with this room, in a flat in the Presidio Heights area of San Francisco. I love the soft palatte punctuated by the strong piece of art and the dark floors and chandelier. The blend of textiles certainly gets my attention without becoming a distraction. I asked Jerry about the project - I was so curious about that painting - was it the inspiration or the finishing complement? “The property owner had viewed the painting early in the development and asked me if I can work with it. To me it looked like a modern Toulouse Lautrec… also I have always appreciated burgundy, black and ashen motifs, so I said yes. She purchased it and we did work around it a bit.” Jerry said he insisted on the black border to match the flooring and lighting. At the client’s request, yellow was chosen as the primary color, which worked well with the girls’ hair. I admire the moderation excercised within this room - I asked Jerry how he knows when he’s done. “I am typically very restrained, I find that it makes interiors last long or become timeless. I tend to be monochromatic, but I do love to produce life into the spaces. In this case natural luminosity worked exceptionally well too.” He went on to state that there was no other need, the room was completed. I wholeheartedly agree.

The finish, as attentive and thorough as the ruching of a woman’s piece of clothing, provides an alluring, relaxed yet stylish sense.

Flower Ring by Black + Blum was reportedly inspired by the Fibonacci Curve, you recognize that series of numbers that accounts for so many of the spiraling shapes that transpire in nature… Well, in any case, the pot is beautiful and austere. Executed in limitless flowing line in the midst of a chromed finish, the container is outfitted with a water tube that is hidden inside. Think about connecting several Flower Loops together for a larger impact.
London based Black + Blum is an Anglo-Swiss design consultancy that ventured out to extend their own merchandise line. Seems it was a worthy decision as their modern accessories line continues to grow.
